Default new tweeter pods.... again.

i was getting a little sick of trying to tame the tweeters in the pillars so i decided to try these tweeters in the kick panels on axis. i had used a different set of tweeters a little while back in the same location with pretty good results.

this time around it is working very well. sounds better than ever.

to aim them i got a little creative with a laser pointer and a piece of mdf. i cut out a piece of mdf that would fit into the PVC fitting and then drilled a hole in the center of it and stuck the laser pointer into it. i then aimed them and took out the hot glue gun and went to town. the are rock solid!

just need to get some body filler or something and blend them in, and then paint them up. this will be much easier and straight forward than my attempt at pillar pods. the pillars will be put back to stock, other than then being covered in black suede.

a pic of my homemade aiming tool. pretty nifty

a few pics of them as of now. hopefully this weekend i'll get them lookin nice.

the hot glue worked great. i got a little crazy with it because i wanted them to be solid. it will all get covered up when i mold them in.

i will mold them in. body filler or something and then paint. should be a lot simpler to do than what i was doing with my pillars.

i really hope you have a lot of sound processing if you are putting your tweeters in the pillars.

basically imprint or h701

yea. i'm gonna have to agree with that. although it might just be the car. some cars certain things work better, that is a fact. in certain cars a pillar install will work better than others.

for me i liked the extra stage height but they just sounded to "in your face". they just seemed to overpower the mids at higher volume no matter what i did. i think it might be a good idea to keep the mids closer to your ears than the tweeters. stage height now after putting them 100% on-axis isn't bad at all.

Looks like they are gonna aim very well into you now...........have you been practicing glassing........stretch a mat over the panel and glass it and have a nice clean pod down there......been thinking about doing mine soon........

I gotta play with my tweeters and take them out of phase and see how they sound........they are harsh and to damn loud........LOL.

nah, i still have never glassed and don't really think this project needs glass. i am just going to use body filler or putty to blend them in and then paint.

i have one of mine out of phase and it sounds better that way. hard to tell at first but there is a definite difference.

what tweeters are you using and where are they mounted? where are they crossed?

use duraglass NOT bondo. bondo will crack, duraglass will most likely hold through
