Default New Waterfall Paint Job

Spent the last 12 hours working on this.......i sanded the silver to the base plastic and clear coated it to match the top of the waterfall......then painted the sides Sizzling Crimson Mica( our car color ) I left the center the stock silver to tie it all together.......

This was a lot of work.........and a lot of time involved........not an easy task to do.

Feedback on it would be appreciated..........doing the door handles soon as more paint becomes available and possible the dash pod lip....in gloss.

You got some over spray with the blue paint.

I like the BCP color, it's got a nice professional looking job!

thanks forpinks...........guess my wife took it into the dealership yesturday to get the oil changed and it took over an hour to get everyone to stop coming out to look at the car...........guess they don't get a lot of modded cars there to look at.

My sales person wants me to send him photos of modifications so he can show buyers what can be done.............I think I feel a dealer sponsered pizza party coming on.....with a bunch of Scions in the lot.

what grit(s) of sandpaper did you use? I was considering this a while back but never went through with it cuz I didn't know how well it would turn out. Now that I see it looks that good I think I may do it...

1000 grit wet sand to start....you can go lower but you will just have to sand longer in the end.then finish with 2000 and try to go the same direction when you sand the final coat as the paint seems to lay better.Lots of light coats.........think I have 7 coats of Sizzing Crimson Mica and at least 15 coats of clear.Sanded the clear with 2000 every third coat.

Apply coats every 12 minutes up to 3 coats.I only sand every 3rd coat........use a tack cloth to keep the surface clean between every coat and after sanding.

If you notice I left the silver in the areas around the panel buttons grey for detail. Also taking out the turning ***** for the vents is a night mare to do and not break the tabs....I have to super glue one on each but they are not going to come out as they are very snug on their mount.

I got the touch up paint from the dealership.....took 3 bottles of it........but at $8 a bottle it worked fine.I used my airbrush to apply the color and Krylon rattle to do the clear.I have been working with paints and airbrush for a few years so I have better luck than most.
My paint color is not available in a spray can yet at the place that puts them in a can for you.......so airbrush it is.

glad to see people are starting to comment on it........still trying to figure wether to do the entire handle or just the round circle of the handle in SCM.......and leave the other part grey......any suggestions......

Loving the look with the BCP and black. I would remove those stickers in the car, takes away from the look big time.

Redline sells the boot.........I removed the pins holding the rubber brake cover and the cover and I used a epoxy and glued it to the cover from under neath.....it took a slight amount of trimming to get all the areas perfect, but it was very easy and their quality is awsome........
