Default opinions?

okay everyone... i have a 12" pioneer premier sub hooked up to a profile ap700m amp. problem is, i still have my factory HU. okay, so i admit that it doesnt sound too bad, but im still looking for more without upgrading my stock speakers. here's what i'm thinking (opinions, reviews, experiences all appreciated):

Pioneer DEH-P4800MP Headunit

Crutchfield has a good deal going on it right now... $140 for the headunit, shipping, wiring harness, and DIN mounting kit. good price for what looks to be a decent headunit. let me know what you think, and keep in mind that i'm not looking to spend a lot of money... i'm fixing to drop the tC and add sways in a couple weeks, too.

p.s.- i also have a $50 best buy gift card sitting around, and i'm thinking of either getting the pioneer ipod integration for the new headunit or a cobra radar detector. opinions on either of these?

thanks for the repsonses! happy holidays

if you want to get an after market deck, might i suggest getting the 6800. its a bit more but you do get a better display, and a 7band eq instead of just a three band. it also has an aux port on the front (the 5800) doesnt have one built in.

now as far as the ipod goes, if you want to get the ipod adapter, it works well with my deck (Pioneer 8600MP) its a bit combersome to get to some music but over all its really really cool not having to worry about using my ipod to nav through all my music :D

I have been looking at the the 4800 5800 and 6800 for my dads FJ Cruiser. There really is no difference in the specs in all of them. There are just a few features and styling cues that distinguish them. They should perform about the same.

id still choose the better looking screen, and the 7band EQ over the 3 band anyday. having the aux built in is just a perc

my friend has the 5800 in his corolla... i personally am not impressed with it. its cool for him cause it is his first deck and just wanted a simple mp3 deck, but from experience, id still get the 6800 if not the 7800 or the 9800bt or the eventual avic-d3 .. haha
