Our horrible, horrible key
i have a 2006 scion tC and it comes with the ugly gray key. anywho, i have two of those keys and after about 3 years of using it, the gray plastic part of the first key broke (i guess from turning it so much) and the second key, the unlock button is jacked up from pressing it so much. so i went on ebay and bought the newer version (black key) for the car. works great until today when i went to crank the car, the black plastic part snapped and the metal key came off. luckily, i was able to put it back in somehow so i could start up the car or else i would be stranded at a gas station. my question is, does toyota/scion offer warranties on our keys? i hate to pay $400 or so for a new key.
any ideas on what to do?

at least you had it for three years. I had my key for a while also and had to use the alternative key because I let a friend borrow the car keys for a month and the keys had a similar issue with the black rubber buttons.
I just think your knuckles are to big and your ruff on many things, the buttons should not have any problems.
I was mad when my friend brought it back looking all pushed to death.
How are people so ruff on the device?
anyway good link reply. My key (alternative one) looks fine, and I would be letting anyone else have anything other than the valet one!
