owners of the 2-in-1 floor mats
I have the old mats, before they added the heel coverage. I've never taken the carpet out.
I have a drk gry heather t-shirt that I place over the driver's mat. That has helped with durabilty of the mat.

I have them, but didn't vote in the poll because I never use them. They were taken out immediately and placed in storage, so that they're perfect for when I sell the car, in 3 years or so.
I bought a small piece of grey indoor/outdoor carpent from Home Depot for next to nothing and cut some custom size 'mats' to protect the car's carpet.
I didn't want to buy the mats in the first place, since they're not worth the cost, but the dealer refused to remove anything I didn't want that they'd already put in, including the mats.

When did Scion change the floor mats to include the heel protector or whatever that was mentioned earlier?
Mine are without carpet since the day the car came home.
Easier to keep clean, etc.

Sig

Well it rains a *lot* here in Portland so I just leave the rubber ones in.. there's no way to avoid wetness/mud. Summer is pretty dry, but not really worth risking it- the saying about oregon weather is "just wait a minute'

Obviously not a big deal to me or I wouldn't have got the car, but the dealer really should reconsider their policies. It's understandable for items that are an effort to install, but if a customer doesn't want the floormats there shouldn't be any excuse for not removing them and taking off the $184 charge (? or whatever it was) from the itemized sticker.
I agree with what you're implying. If a person has time and doesn't mind a little effort, it's often worthwhile when you're able to resolve the situation like you did.
