Painted my key....
Not sure if this fits in this catagory, but here it goes...
So, this is what happens when I'm bored and I'm waiting for my rear emblem to dry (I painted it black... again)
I hate the fact that my key is gray and others are black...
but I also didn't want it to look like just another stock key...

It's Plasti-Dip... you can find it at Home Depot and it comes in red or black... I think you might be able to get it in yellow too, but I couldn't find any (not that I would've dipped it in yellow...
)
In case you've never heard of the stuff, it gives the key a rubber coating that makes it non-slip... the stuff is actually intended for the handles on your hand tools... and it can come off pretty easily if you catch an edge and peel it off.
I might not be the first to do this... but it's different... what do y'all think?

The key comes apart... there's a spot at the base of the key where you can stick a very small flat screwdriver to pry the two halves apart.
From there, you can take out the inside "module" by using the small screwdriver. The buttons come out with it.
The emblem is merely stuck on with a little glue... again a very small screwdriver is all it takes to get it off.
One of the halves will have the keyshaft attached to it... all you have to do is mask and tape it with some painter's tape.
Paint the two halves and reassemble when the paint is dry and cured. Make sure to wait until the paint cures so that you don't accidentally put fingerprints into the paint. The emblem will need a little silicone adhesive and it'll stay put.
That's all it takes... pretty easy actually... I encourage y'all to try it and perhaps experiment with other colors...
