I want to paint some panel's in my tC color-keyed to match my exterior.

Any information would be greatly appreciated.

painting?

clear coat?

 

all three plus cleaning, clean them to remove any wax or oils or dirt, priming then painting then clearing.

i did mine and just cleaned, painted and cleared. certain parts i haven't even cleared. i never even used primer either. i'm gonna redo my pieces in flint mica though very soon.

 

use plastic adhesion promoter after you clean it with a citrus based cleaner. sand it down with 1000 grit, primer coat, color coat, clear coat, sand with 2000 grit

thats probably the best way but i didn't do all that and mine is holding up just fine. it's only been like 3 or 4 months so far but not a single chip or scratch yet.

 

make sure you have a few coats of clear to keep it looking good

 

I am definitly looking for long term quality.

I am a bit of a perfectionist.



any product names you would suggest for the primer and clear coat?

i'm changing the color to flint mica cause blue is kinda blah. doesn't really match anything. right now the only thing blue is the center. i changed the gauge pod and everything else back to black but it will all be flint mica eventually.

 

i used House of Kolor for the entire process

 

i am too, trust me. clean the surface real good, spray a few light coats of paint, then do a thicker coat or two then do clear if you want. do the same with the clear, a couple light coats then a thick one or two.
