Painting waterfall and hvac.
watching...and also curious on the vht or vans idea...wondering if just blacking them out with that will still allow the light from the leds to come through...would someone please test...i don't know where or how much those would cost to buy and test on...

I have been looking for a place to show these off and found it! I found this thread trying to find someone with a busted hvac so i can buy their buttons and make another set. I can post up the full how to as well
and as far as i know, This is truely one of a kind. In my 2 and a half years of looking, i have never seen another set of painted buttons. its easier to just make up your own symbols. I am going to make the next one all "Stargate "symbols
My fav part is the ring around the temp dial. during the day its white, at night, the color shines through the white still.

just wondering, would putting petroleum jelly on the lettering with a toothpick and then paining over it work, the paint would not seep through the jelly and the after a few minutes of drying you could wipe away the jelly and be left with lettering intact... or Vht niteshade
Im going to give you a "legit" answer then.
Painting the hvac buttons is almost impossible to do. (it can be done as the above pictures show, however, the end product looks like crap)
The hvac buttons are one of the most touched areas of the car, and the paint on them will most likely end up chiping, cracking, fading, you name it and it will end up looking even worst.
Your petroleum jelly was a thought, however, you would need an artesian hand to carefully and smoothly cover the tiny ___ letters. Still not going to work.
So what if the silver doesnt flow. If it doesnt then do what Jon said dont paint the middle section of the waterfall.

hey, don't be killing the thought of something that hasn't been effectively accomplished yet...just because you don't like or aren't too keen on the idea, doesn't mean that it will be complete crap or pointless...if someone wants to change the color of their buttons...let them do it without thrashing them because you don't like it...i don't like painted stockies...but i'm not telling you that it's a bad idea...and however it was done in that picture above, i agree, that style isn't my style either, but he likes it and doesn't think it looks bad...
this thread was made to try and figure out how to paint the buttons effectively...not to go around saying its a horrible idea, gonna look like crap and not to do it...if they weren't gonna do it, they wouldn't have made the thread...
