It's not possible. There is no remote start for a stock scion. Remember when you bought your car, and the dealer went through all that crap about the key having a chip in it, and when you turn the key in the ignition, the chip sends a signal to the engine telling it to turn on. If that chip doesn't tell the enging to turn on, it won't. The remote turn on thingy is like 600 bucks because they hardwire another chip into your system.

BUT...........I have heard about hitting the unlock button three times, it turns on.......I think?

well this thread is old but basically your dealer is partially lying to you. yes you have a chip in your key.

However you can still put in a RS system for fairly cheap. all youll need is a bypass module ($50) and one of your existing keys (free) and then whatever RS/alarm combo you want ($100-600). Its very easy to do (for the experianced installer)

if you have a manual then your out of luck as most shopd will not touch your car

i think its possible. just get a remote starter, a bypass module (it requires a spare key - valet key), then trace down the wire that sends out a signal when panic is hit, should be easy to do. the remote sensor is on the driver's side back seat above the speaker. then take that wire, and you might have to reverse the signal with a relay or turn a steady signal into a pulse etc. and connect it to the remote starters wired input for activation.

in theory sounds super easy

Yes you can have remote start on a manual. well I do but it wasn't installed at a shop. you will need a clutch bypass and nutral sensor. or just the clutch bypass but you better remember everytime to make sure your car isn't in gear.,

you can make a clutch bypass with a relay. all you have to do is connect it to the clutch safety switch. then relay it up to send a ground to that wire

You can add aremote start to your stock key. You would hit the lock button 3 times and the car would start . You do need a bypass for your key or you can spend a bit more and buy a bypass that learns the info in your key. We do Manual remote starts all of the time. Just find a Compustar Dealer they have a unit that is programmed for Manual trans RS. The reason Viper does not offer this is because 50% of there dealers could not handling installing them.
