Its nice and all, but the screen looks kind of small.

I don't really like that we have to see those plastic fill-ins on each side of the unit to fill the gaps... makes it looks less like it's supposed to be there than the older models (such as the D3 and before) did. Still has great features though, I'm sure, I'm not knocking it's functionality by any means... just the aesthetics.

I used those filler plates on my d1 and you should have to use them on ur d3 also

yea they are made for these appliques. I also recessed my unit so I could shut the door did u do that?

Have you noticed that it is sometimes slow to respond to the touch screen at first when powered on but then becomes faster after some usage? I just put this unit along w/ the F70 on display at Best Buy where I work and I was playing with them and noticed the screens are slow at first. Kind of annoying.

 

Yea... when it first turns on, its slightly slower. I guess it takes time to load up the info.

Did you need additional parts to hook it up? Wire harnesses / steering wheel remote adapter kit?

 

Yep you would need the wiring harnesses. Any Toyota ones would work. And I used the PAC SWI-PS for the steering wheel remote kit.

 

So I'm looking at the unit on crutchfield and it lists a wiring harness in the box. If I need an additional wiring harness do you know what it is called? I found the pac swi-ps part on crutchfield its surprisingly expensive for something so seemingly simple.
