Default Plastic shifter trim

(Random internet picture)

Is there any known replacement for the oem silver shifter trim piece? Its seems so cheap and flimsy; I'd like an actual metal chrome one or just something better. Not sure if you guys had heard anything about this.

thanks

No, I'm talking about the square border of the shift boot- not the ring on the shift lever.

^I'm on my iPhone!

That's crappy about nobody making one. I think a nice metal chrome peice would be nice - like something you would find on an audi maybe.

just paint the thing chrome...

most, if not all, interior chrome pieces are plastic.... just like that "flimsy" piece you mentioned.

now ask yourself.. is the audi's chrome piece plastic? or metal?

^ that's cheesy and crappy. Plus, it'll propably crack and peel off the first hot day it sees. Metal or nothing and I'm surprised there is no aftermarket for something like this. Oem is fine for now I guess.

BTW, the Audi's is metal.

That doesn't happen on other tCs, why would it do so on yours?

our upper front grille piece is plastic.. and chromed.. and the circles on the interior door panel where the handles are also chromed plastic..

and oh... ok.. audi's are metal.. oh joy. doesn't change the fact that you're being obnoxiously ridiculous on one insignificant aesthetic interior piece.

hmm.. while your at it.. you can ask where they make wooden center consoles... i think ours is a bit "flimsy".. i think expensive cars have wooden interiors, don't they?

yea.. ohhhhh why hasn't an aftermarket company jumped in on that??? that's a gold mine sitting right there!!

no it's just that you are bringing up a moot point .

you can get a metal trim ring from another car , cut it , re weld it then polish it if it bothers you so much .

a decent amount of chromed plastic is about as good as real chrome

and no matter what you say i'm pretty confident the audi uses fake chrome as well . i will check it out when i tear down the autoshow sunday .
