Wow. Can't believe these things cost 6 or 7 hundred dollars, and the dealerships are replacing the whole thing. That'd be a shame if they were all caused by a couple of cold solder joints.

I would test it out on my 07, but I just had the HVAC panel replaced by the dealer. Still under warranty, so it's all good.

So has anyone tried this yet?

The dealer techs are not trained (even though this is pretty simple) to perform board level electronics repair, so in any case the dealer would just replace them. And this unit probably costs them closer to $100 most likely... maybe even less. So the time to even take it apart and do the work probably costs them as much as a new unit once they pay the techs time.

the units actually cost more around the $200-250 range, i think, at cost to the dealership..

but yeah.. still.. most of the techs won't be able to do anything that specialized.. and replacement is the easiest way for them.

When I took one back to the dealer, we left the car there for 2 hours. Upon my return they said it is because one "bulb" went out.

But I didn't care since they were going to replace it under warranty anyways. they can call it whatever they like!

I heard it's the flux capacitors that have been failing in these parts. I would replace mine, but I don't have the 1.1gigawatts needed to fire it up.

Ok so I tried the swap on my 07 HVAC and all is well except...

1. The LCD screen is not lighting but is displaying time/climate ops.

2. The "new" hot/cold LED's are not lighting up

any suggestions? I did the gauges and they turned out great! Anyone willing to offer a fix if I can send it to you?

Thanks guys!

Check the resistor and all leds under the LCD. Make sure the leds are polarized correctly, all solder joints are good, etc. If that is not the issue, then look for a dead led. Same goes for the temp **** leds.

So resoldering that transistor fixed the lighting issue on yours?

Still though.... did you have the 07 HVAC issue and correct it using the fix I posted in this thread? I need to verify that this is the same issues on others.

yea I did redo t302 and that works with no issues, headlights are on and most of the hvac is lighting up except for what I listed above, so I really think you might have something as far as thats concerned!
