Default prewired LEDs and cathodes questions ?

I plan to buy them from Oz, and will install sometimes next week. I want some in airvents, door handles, glovebox, armest and back cupholders. THe cathodes will be in the engine bay, under the seats and back of the trunk. So here is my question :

- I have the factory blue LED footwell. Is it possible to have them ALL light up ( except for the armrest and glovebox ) when I press the unlock button and open the door ?

If you please, show me some pics Thanks guys

You can wire them to the dome light circut, so when you dome lights come on all the lights come on. So whichever lights you want to only come on with the dome lights you can hook to that circut...

There are pictures of it somewhere on here, ill find one and edit my post when I do.

And for lights that you want on only whent the car is on, you can hook it to one of the ignition wires.

Also, you can use On-Off-On switches for just setting the lights to come on with dome, or to come all the way on, as in at a car show or showing them off to your friends

*Edit- Found the dome light circut pic

It is a ground switched negative with a constant 12v positive.

cathodes in the engine bay can get a little tricky. reason being, they need to be waterproofed with silicone... along with the transformer.

everything else is relatively easy

Well how do you waterproof them? Sorry for asking but I am trying to learn how to do this so that I may do this one day lol .

I take it that you would first have to buy clear silicone from like Home Depot in the caulking tubes right or am I totally wrong on this one lol. And then what? How long does it take?

not caulking tubes @ hoem depot. autozone sells smaller tubes that are far easier to work with.

pretty much caulk every edge on the cathode, plus the ends.
for the transformer, i've seen people take heatshrink tubing to them, and then silicone the ends of the heatshrink to waterproof them

how long does it take to do what? install? a cou ple of hours

Ok well thank you very much I appreciate it. .

On the How long does it take..... I was just wanting to know how long it takes the silicon to dry?

Oh and one more thing whats the best way to keep the cathodes in the engine bay? Bolting them down, using some type of adhesive, zip ties? lol .

Sorry for all these questions but I am trying to learn this, and with learning come all the annoying questions so please forgive me .

I used zipties and double sided tape to hold my led strips in the engine bay. You can do the same thing w/ cathodes

Harrison, what switches are you using? I like the round rocker ones but don't see how they'd fit.

I have the oblong switches from autzone/advanced/napa that have a blue led that turns on when the switch is pressed.

I needed to drill a 1/2" hole into the blanks in teh switch panel to secure them. I also have a couple of them in the fuse box cover below the switch panel (don't worry, that panel was meant to house 3 switches... you look on the back, and there are indentations showing the 3 switch locations)

Where did you use all of those things??? i (also from oznium ) am getting 4 12" cathodes, for under front dash and front seats (for real footwells) and then a bunch of LEDs for cupholders (front and rear) and the open spaces in the rear. How many leds did you use? and where??? also, ANY help with the install would be great, me and my friend are DIY and yes, i have searched, but its all so confusing... thanks, CAN"T WAIT!!

look at it. is the inside tube in bunches of little pieces?

check connections at the transformer.

check other wiring connections (maybe something came loose?)

just a few things to try
