Default Problem! Shift gears letters will not light up

Hi, I recently disassembled my radio unit to replace my cd player. Everything went smoothly and I installed the new unit, but when I drove at night, I notice the Letters, (D, R, 3, L) located on the shifting gear, does not illuminate. Does anyone know what happened? Did I miss a fuse or forgot a plug? Please help, it's greatly appreciated bros.

I would first check to make sure that the bulb isn't bad. I don't think any connections you would have unplugged for the radio would have affected that.

you probably knocked the bulb loose and now you just aren't getting the same lighting as you were. take off your shift plate and find the bulb. it attaches in a certain spot to shoot down and illuminate the whole thing.

hope that helps

I went to the dealership today, they said it's not the fuse, it could be the bulb that needs to be replaced. When I was installing the replacement cd, I disconnected the battery from the car, so I "THINK" it might of blew the bulb. Does anyone know or can post some DIY instructions on how to replace the bulb under the drive selector indicator?

I took a picture of it, http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3220/...f9c0a074_o.jpg

Thanks guys, I really need your help again..

pull out the middle console and remove your shifter and hvac unit. Grab your shift plate and pull straight up on it. it will pop right off and you will see the bulb connected to it. Thats it. PM me if you have questions or need some pictures.

Hmm, i just hate it when i disc the battery, everything resets, like my passenger windows won't work, and that's when the bulb went out on the console.. Does it matter if the batter is still connected?

you don't need to disconnect the battery... and you don't need to pop out the shift release override either... ( just stick your key in)

and the screwdriver thing to pry it apart? you don't need that as well.. it just pops out if you pull. outwards.

the bulb gets loose pretty easy when you take out the center piece to remove the waterfall.........mine did the same thing.......my cubby light is still off......hate to take it back apart again to put it back in.......gonna try to reach it from the back......

But yep just remove the lower part of the console and pull up on the shift area cover and yo will see the bulb.......
