Default push button start with a new twist

i know i know it's a resurrected topic, but i figured i'd throw a few things out here since most posts made in the other push button starter threads are over a year old....

i am looking to add a push button start to my tC but i still wanna keep the integrity of the immobilizer system, as well as have options for ACC position and IGN position.

i have a buddy who rigged a similar system in his STi by relocating his key cylinder's immobilizer ring to the cupholder, then cutting off the cut-key portion of his key so the immobilizer chip is all that's on his keychain.... drop your keys in the cupholder over the illumitated ring (which somewhat resembles a rubber ;) ) and press the button.

i wanna add a different twist to this, by maybe tying into my remote start's activation input or something, that would trigger the xk05 immobilzer bypass i already have installed.

or, a magnetic switch like you would use as a neutral safety switch when adding a remote start to a manual tranny, could be installed in the cubby under the deck, and the other magnet in a fob on your keys.... then when you get in the car and toss your keys in the cubby hole the ACC mode is accessed.

first - anybody know of a push start / stop button that is single and double pulsed (much like an auto-down power window switch) that could be used to have the first press be latched IGN, second press be pulsed to the activation input for the starter?

second - on a slightly different note, i've been searching online for any type of aftermarket intellikey smart key somethin that might work off an RF signal that i could mess with. anyone have links?

potential issues i'm trying to come up with solutions for:

1 - if the button triggers a remote start, how do you "teach" the system to recognize key take-over?

2 - once you arrive at your destination, how do you shut the car off?

thanks.... i'll post up as i do some more research

What happens when you punch it and the keys come flying out of the cubby?

Sounds cool, definitely watching this one.

the ign immobilizer (transponder chip) is only utilized at startup. i have the bypass with the chip in a loop for my remote start on another veh (similar ign immobilizer system) and I can remote start and then use a key that I made without the transponder to unlock the ign cylinder, engage the brake and shift from park to Drive.... works like a charm. as long as you have batteries that work in the remote....

yeah, the immobilizer only needs to be seen on initial startup, otherwise the fuel pump shuts down.....

my friend has the zenisis alarm and it has a feature where u can keep the key fob in ur pocket and unlock the doors and turn on the car. wut he did he added a push start button where his key cylinder is and added an acc switch where his blank switch panel is. so he can just walk up to his car, open the door without touching the key fob then turn on the car with the push button.

The new Camry has something similar. They have push button starts where it uses RF (or something similar) to see if the key fob is in range before starting. I suppose you could try and copy that system and then jack in a remote start/entry controller.

This is pretty much exactly what he's talking about. If anyone's driven a 06+ Lexus GS350, they'll know what's up.

The push button not only acts as the start button, but it also acts as the "ACC on". So, push it in a bit, ACC on. Push it in more, Start. Then when you wanna leave, push again and it kills it.

For the push button, just think like your Auto down windows. Push it down a little bit it goes down, push it all the way window goes all the way down.

Foose801 and I actually talked about this at great lengths. Lol!

And yeah, got the idea from watercooler what store do you work at?

I'm seriously thinking just an OEM unit from a Lexus. But that could possibly reeeeeeeeeally suck.

i dont think they make it with 2 intervals however, my BMW has the push button. you push it once and the ACC comes on, you put ur foot on the brake or cluth then press the button and it starts the car. and to turn off engine just press again.

That's exactly the idea. But I'm not sure if it is a computer controled type of deal. If it was just the button itself, I think he'd be set with an OEM Lexus piece or the gangster TRD Sportiva one! But the Sportiva unit isn't as stealth.
