Hi everyone,

I had an unfortunate event happen to me, someone took a long ice scraper, and pounded in around 30 to 40 dents on the outside of the A and C pillars, mainly on the passenger side.

My question is, can you get behind that piece of metal? Is it sealed? I have side airbags, but i can just take those off right?

 

uhhh... there are ways to get behind there... but as far as side curtain airbags... you're gonna have to break a one-time use clip for the pillars.

 

Just out of curiosity, was this "someone" female?

I am just wondering because the dent guy thought it was a sealed part, and i didnt want to believe it

 

hmm.. not sure... pillars typically are for structural strength... so maybe..

for whatever's sake.. yea.... it might as well be completely sealed... pretty much need an auto shop and insurance would be a good thing to utilize then..

and that clip? yeah.. you can get another one... for a price.

i reused my 1 time clips... if you get new ones they are $3.xx from the dealer, not a bad price but my dealer said it would take 2-3 days to get and i didnt want to wait, lol.

as for sealed or not, i have no idea.

 

I have a ton of those clips, the airbags are held in by bolts, what circuit do I need to pull?

 

no you dont... the air bag clips are not those standard peg things, the A and C pillar have bolts sticking out of them, and the clips go around them...

just disconnect your battery and wait 10 minutes or so.

 

Any updates on whether or not they are sealed? What are some dent removal methods? I'm going to try the blow dryer, co2 tactic tommorow

oh i'd say about 16k.....

you can't really replace the outside a & c pillars

Sorry I don't have a better one of the c-pillar area... the a-pillar looks pretty sealed, the c at least has some quarter-sized holes to work with.
