Ok, my question is does changing your shift **** on manual cars affect the way you drive or shift into gears more precise, reason I'm asking,i been doing research on shift ***** cause im wanna get a different one other then OEM,from what i been reading is it true that a heavier or weighted shift **** make shifting more smooth and precise cause you have a better feel or grip going into gears if that makes sense,or is it bascially on the driver.....

A heavier or weighted shift **** won't make much of a difference if you don't get a short shifter first. The biggest difference in shifting will come from the short shifter.

 

^^^ Agreed, you can't really get a smoother throw with an oem shifter. But you can change bushings for a more crisp feel I gess.

I personally don't like the weighted ones. My car came with a Razo weighted ****. I think a new shift **** was my first mod.

 

like another person mentioned if your using stock shifter it wont make a difference,maybe some cable bushings, but get a short shifter of your choice then youll feel the difference,but some shift ***** feel comfty then others and have better grip then others it all comes down to personal preference

i like weighted *****... and i know people who don't.
do you?? i have NO IDEA... just something you need to figure out on your own.

as far as it affecting the way you drive? well of course.
not just weight, but also the **** shape as well. again.. something that relies on your own personal preference.

i do have the stock shifter along with the stock shift ****,the shift **** isnt very comfty for me at all,i do have the doc cables bushings which made a huge difference on making the shifter tighter,but my question was answered,bascially it comes down to personal preference.........think ill get the doc's short shifter and a trd shift ****....

 

Doc I shifters are the best and Doc himself has excellent customer service. I have a doc I with 3inch reduction and I love it. Fot you though, I recommend the 1 inch reduction. It'll have the smooth throw you are looking for. The more the shaft is reduced, the more effort you have to put into shifting..

 

from personal experience for the Tc with a CC shortshift and bushing I added a greddy weighted shiftknob and did not like it. its all about personal preference. I decided to go with a genuine TRD leather ball ****. its light and grips much better, for me that is. Just try it out if you dont like it sell it.

 

yup, i have the B&M short shifter with the mustang gt shift ****,very comfty,its not the shortest throw shifter out there but its good enough for what i use it for,but you tend to get use of it and want a shorter throw,but as rs2 1823 mention,doc I has really good short shifter,but choice is yours.bascially do your research and find out whats best for you

 

When I changed my shift ****, i didnt realize the new beautiful **** was cracked very slightly on the inside (prob during installation or cheap material). Didnt take long to realize that whenIi would shift into a gear it would feel like it wasn't going in gear all the way and would sometimes grind. If I had installed correctly I wouldnt have had this problem. Therefore, the answer to your question is.. Yes, changing your shift **** can/may affect your driving, as was in my case. Note To Self: Don't buy cheap ish from Ebay.

 

interesting,i picked up a mustang shift ****,and i find it easier going into gears now,i guess its more comfty,and grips alot better then stock,still gotta get a short shifter and what not,
