have a basic 07 hu want to upgrade to t1808 so i can use ipod cable, which my current hu doesnt support.

my question is do i just get the t1808 hu and just plug n play or do i need other cables to buy?

Don't 100% take this as fact..... but I believe the main wiring harness is PNP. I would say it's safe to say that you will need the iPod cable on the premium Pioneer HU.... Unless it comes with one already. I have the Premium Pioneer HU in my 08 tC with the factory under floor sub. Personally for a factory HU, I think it's a pretty decent one.

 

thanks man yeah was talking to someone who selling a t1808 and he say its pnp, and i was looking at some pic of all the scion hu and the backs look similar except the new ones with ipod capability and rca inputs.

In order to use the iPod on the newer headunits your dashboard wiring harness needs to already have the connector for it which runs into the center console, and if your tC doesn't have iPod support, then chances are it may not have the iPod cable that runs into the center console (and is a part of the dash harness). Without this cable you'll need a custom made cable which you can find on eBay, like this one:
