Hello all!

My girl and I were wondering what would be a good clearner as in cleaning carpet/ seat stains from our cloth cars? Her 97 eclipse needs some help. I was thinking about calling stanley steamers but they only do carpets for inside houses and cost mucho money. Any recommendations?

 

do you have stains or do you want the whole car cleaned?

if it is spots, there are a lot of great cleaners on the market. i use the meguiras spot lifter, seems to work well on the stains i have used it on. for floor mats i wash them in my utility sink with a scrub brush. they looked new.
it really comes down to elbow grease.

if you want a professional cleaning, i have no idea where you would go.

 

Any autoparts store will have upholstry cleaners next to the wax's, soaps and detail stuff. They're big spray bottles with thick plastic bristles at the top for scrubbing. It takes quite a bit of elbow grease depending on how bad the stains are but they do work.

My car's seats (front and back) and armrest were super faded to white from sweat and salt water because I would jump in it it whenever I came out of the gym or came in from surfing. I spent about half a day and a really sore right arm cleaning it all up but they look black again.

She mostly has old stains like of juice or some type of soda in the cloth. The previous owners were really messy. My car only has 2 spots on the roof due to some make- up hmm..

No prob. But if the stains are really bad you might have to clean it a couple of times in order to get it all out. Clean it once, let it dry. Then hit it again in a day or so.

 

yea, they have been there for quite a while. Im going to head to the auto part store today to see what they have. Hopefully in a few weeks her car would look a lot nicer. Thanks.

 

what I do, I have a "rug doctor" machine (it comes with a upholstry attatchment) is use that.
Go to your local grocery store, and you cant RENT one for an hour or 2. This will let you do your WHOLE interior, and I guarantee you, when you keep dumping the water, your water will be almost black. Also, buy 1 container of the cleaner that goes with it (might be about 8-10 dollars).

Start with the seats, and pre-soak it (squeeze the handle on the attatchment, it sprays water). Then, pre-soak your front carpet and go back and CLEAN the seats with the vacuum part (the water it pulls out will really amaze you).

The rental of the machine, plus chemicals should run you under $35 or so, and if you want you can do your home carpets before you return it. I went out and bought one from target I was so impressed with the results, and I do my carpets atleast every three months, and the cars I own, atleast twice a year. The thing is amazing, and NO cleaner will "remove" the stains, if it doesnt extract it. This will make your interior smell nice again (if your a smoker) and will apply a stain guard (built into the cleaner) so next time your ride will clean up a bit easier.
