Default Radar Detector

What is the best radar detector on the market? Im not to well informed on how well they do there job or even the different types of Anti-Ticket hardware. All I know is that they are illegal in Virgina and Washington. Please Advise.
Thanks,

best radar detector? well besides a custom job I'd say the V1 (valentine one)

I personally have the V1 and would reccomend it in a second

however, no radar detector is ever going to stop you from getting a ticket, it can however alert you to the possibility that you could get hit with radar... thus giving you ample time to make a decision.

nothing compares to the V1 simply because of the arrows and "bogey counter"

multiple times I've had simultaneous radar hitting me, without V1 I would think "coast is clear" usually.

Radar guns (generally) have to be turned on for a lil while before they get accurate readings, therefore the cops just usually leave them on if they plan on doing any speed reading or think that having it on would come in handy. Now even if they arent shooting radar and reading speeds, the gun is still shooting radar. some of these stray radar waves pass through windsheilds, bounce off the ground etc etc. these get picked up, moreso by better/more sensitive detectors.

Check out the V1 and if your willing to pay a lil more but get the best, you'll see its a wise investment if you drive "spirited"

one other thing though, is that any radar detector is not a cop detector, I have a few friends that cant grasp that when they ride with me.

You should REALLY read up on EVERYTHING at http://www.radarbusters.com. Educate yourself as much as possible to make a decision about which detector suits you best.

FYI Passive radar jammers DO NOT WORK.

Watch the vidoes on the site too!

I've an Escort 8500. I've been using it for about 3 yrs and it has saved my behind more than once. I hear the V1 is the way to go if you've got the cash. The wife has been using my escort as of late.......Hmmmm, maybe it's time for me to get a v1......hehehe

Escort 8500 or Bel rx65. I have the Bel and love it. The Bel has the voice announcements and also the Ku band detection. Other than that they are the same and are made by the same manufacturer just renamed. Got mine in ebay for $230 SHIPPED.

same here, i just got the bel rx65 on ebay 235 shipped, better than paying 330! Bel rx65 and Escort 8500 are about the same unit (same company). Its a nice unit and voted best pick by radar roy over the v1

By the way, some people car mount it high, radar roy says mount it low to pick up laser better, manual says to mount it high enough so nothing obstructs it, where are your guy's mounted????

Mine is moutned high, right next to the rea view miror, with it hardwired to the fuse box. From what I have read, you are pretty much screwed no matter what with laser. Mine has picked up laser a few times and saved me in teh 3 weeks that I have had it. High mount is also concealed from the rear and from the sides if a n officer walks up. It is only silght noticeable from the front. I can post some pics up later if needed

i love my x50 and the price. if you have a friend who works at best buy or circuit city have them help you buy it. mine was about $180 from what i remember. if i couldn't have gotten my x50 for such a good price i would probably pony up the money for a v1

if you look at the test results the v1 is actually still the best and does have the ku band as well. Just look at all the data. However for the price, I am seriously considering the rx65 over the v1. Just hesitant and torn between the two.
