Radio Door Mod- Light It Up!
Anybody else done this? Back light color (blue) looks much better in person, tough to get a good pic. One of my better mods, if I do say so myself.

Pretty cool.How did you do that? I'm trying to mold scion emblem into door and put some LEDs on the back. I dont think i ever will finish with that. But yeah good job, very clean.
Answers, in no particular order;
Yes Dave, I'm going to Braintree.
It wasn't 1:10 AM or PM lol - I didn't set the clock yet, after plugging the harness back in behind the waterfall.
It's not too bright - as I said, hard to get a pic that shows what it really looks like. Unless you've got a high-end camera, LEDs or lights in general don't usually look accurate in a photo.
DIY - not unless I do another one, since this one's done and I didn't take any pics along the way.
I had wanted to do it since I got my car in 2004 too; finally decided to get serious and figure out how it could be done.
Letters were cut out on a milling machine, and then filed (under a microscope) to get right to the edges, all the curves, etc. This was a biatch, believe me. I had to repaint the silver too, since it got a little scratched in the process.
I used Oznium ribbon strip LEDs, nice and thin. It's mounted inside the door, between the face plate with the logo, and the black plastic door itself. Stealth, baby.
Hardest part was finding something to use as a diffuser, so it glows evenly, and you can't see the individual LEDs. Lot of time and experimentation on that, but finally got it.
Thanks for the compliments! I'm thinking about another light up logo for the door handles - maybe I'll keep a DIY in mind when I'm doing that.
