Default Radio problems/rant

so, about 2 weeks ago when i put my TRD springs in, i hear a loud pop, and radio goes out-nothing, nada, no display sound, nothing

check all fuses i can find-there good

so i take it to the dealership, takes about week and a half(said they had to back order it....not like they didnt have 8 tC's setting on the lot )

so, finally get radio in(after taking 2 hours...to change the radio...come on, give me a break)

last night-radio dies again, no pop this time, but its still not working

now the service manager says they ned to go over the whole electrical system in the car for shorts, could take 2-4 hours

anybody have any ideas on whats wrong
i used to have am amp hooked up, but i have pulled it out(before 1st short) and taped up all wiring, pulled fuses i set up for it, and im double checking my work today, but something should have happened quite a long time ago if it was b/c of that

Dude that really just sounds like a fuse to me, but I could be wrong. Sounds like when you pulled the wiring out it could be touching a ground and blowing a fuse, although that wouldn't account for the second radio working again, I donno man.

Did you check the fuse in the head unit? Most units (even factory ones) have fuses built into it. If that popped on the first, you'd lose the radio and the second would work fine, until you had the short again. I'm with sddykstr. You have a short, somewhere.

dealer could not find a short anywhere, said it was just a fuse that popped(that probably is what killed the first one)

dont know what fuse or where it is located
