I'll be updating this as I make progress with my car. This will basically be the worst DIY ever, but it's very easy to make.
To cover all the technicalities, the rear seats weigh approx 60-65lbs, between the bench, seat back, head rests, hardware, seat belts, etc. That's not including anything under the stock cargo cover. If anyone wants to add that stuff up, feel free, but I'm not driving around without the stock subs, jack and spare tire.
I'm using about 1/4-3/8" thick plywood for everything, only costs about $12-$20 at Home Depot for a massive sheet that provides more than enough for you to ____ up a few times. I don't have any measurements, that stuff is pretty simple to obtain. And I don't really feel like explaining how we cut the top piece, just know that it took us about 25 tries to get those stupid curves right. We used the rear seat bench as a template for the shape, then just shaved off 1/2" after 1/2" until it was the right size.

It still needs a lot of work and nothing is bolted, in fact everything fell apart when I drove home. Once it's all done, it will be fully carpeted, and bolted to the car, using nothing but the stock bolt holes. This project will be 100% reversible, meaning no new holes will be drilled, no parts will be cut off, etc.
I should have more done later this week, since the weather is supposed to be much nicer than it has been. I still need to paint the wood to give it some protection from moisture, finish sanding everything down, and then carpet it.
Also, since the rear seats deaden A LOT of outside noise, I suggest putting down some sort of new sound deadener. I used 1 gallon of liquid eDead, and put it under the spare/subs, under the rear seats, inside the rear quarter panels and inside the hatch panels. It did a pretty good job deadening my exhaust, it basically compensated for the lack of the rear seats. I also just added this crap that I got from work. It's just really thick packing foam. Since it was pre-cut, I just shoved it inside there.

Yea you make the DIY.
If I made one, it would basically be..."remove everything. Make box. clean up." With just a start and finish picture. I always forget to take pictures along the way lol.
Hopefully I'll have this finished on Tuesday or Wednesday. I'm going to make a few cuts where it rubs in places that it shouldn't and give the thing a real good sanding. If it's not raining tomorrow, I'll even go ahead and just paint the whole thing and give it a few days to dry/air out.

I would totally do this if it was legal in my class. I'd have to run SM if I started removing interior. As it is I just fold my seats down so my center of gravity is technically lower... not by much... but technically.

I'm not doing it to save weight. If I was, I'd have everything out of the trunk gone and wouldn't have put down the eDead. I haven't actually weighed anything that will be going into the car, but if I had to guesstimate...about 10lbs for the wood, 10lbs for the eDead, 3lbs for the carpet, and 2lbs for the foam. So about 30 lbs less than stock and it will be quieter.
The amount of weight that can come out of the interior is nowhere near worth the increase in road noise. If it was 400-500lbs, than yes, but at ~150lbs, it's not even a noticeable gain. The only thing that is noticeable, is that you'll go deaf within a week.
When it's all finished, it will serve as function and form.
