Default Removing interior trim pieces?

Can anyone tell me how to remove the silver waterfall trim pieces in the dash? The pieces I'm talking about are the two long, narrow silver parts that run down from the center vents, alongside the stereo (left side goes around the hazard button), then continues down to a second set of silver pieces that goes along the center gear shift area? It's 4 pieces total. I scratched the crap out of them and need to sand and paint. I tried prying them out, but I don't want to crack or break anything.

Thanks. Is there anyway to just remove those pieces rather than everything it's attached to? It would just make it easier for me when painting. If not that's cool, I could always just tape it up.
