Removing stock seat covers tC?
I cant find any posts that are still alive (without dead pics) on how to remove my factory cloth seat covers on my tC.
I want to see what's under there to test out a Mod to the seats.

i've actually tried to do this before and its not easy. there is metal support sealed inside the foam that is connected directly to the fabric so unless you want to cut foam i wouldn't mess wit it unless you have experience upholstering. there are plastic clips holding most of it on which are easy enough to get off but when you get down to the last part being held on you'll have the foam problem. depending on your proposed mod you may or may not be able to get far enough. my mod was trying to remove my wifes drunken puke.
great mod - id rather not try it though. lol - my mod -.... making vibrating massage seats ;)
alot of ppl do it - for leather installs, theres gotta be a better way. Thanks for the answer though. I'll keep waiting for another

thanks - glad you like my idea - ive never heard it done. but i have a NEVER used massage seat thing and I took it apart. its just a bunch of small ***** wired together. I could easily take them out of the cover and slide them under the factory cloth.
Also - AWESOME idea with the seat warmer - i never thought of that - i personally dont like seat warmers, it feels like you peed in your pants but i'd try it for the fun of the install.
I found an aftermarket warmer with a quick search:
http://www.windandweather.com/store/...tnerid=froogle
the only difference is - i can imagine when you take that apart its a bit more fragile - i dont know how those things work. I also searched for a small dc powered electric blanket (didnt find anything small) - if you could squeeze that in - you'd be good, right.

Getting the seat covers off is possible without destroying them. It will take a little bit of patience, and some hand strength! I am at work, and going off memory, but if you need more help, pm me and later I can get more detailed when I can see the seat again.
Firstly, you will need to take the seat out of the car. On the bottom underside of the seat, you will see some metal rings holding flaps of the seat on to various metal rods. Using pliers or something similar, you need to open up those hog rings and take them off.
The front of the seat is held on with a plastic lip that clips onto the metal of the seat. You have to push/pull this off. I think that you have to pull up on it, as in, it's kind of folded back on itself. Just work around the seat, undoing the metal rings as you come across them. I think you also have a couple of the levers to work around that may be easiest to take off on the sides.
I hope that this was in some small way helpful. I know that when I did the leather seats, I just kind of jumped into it. I never did see a good write up of it. It turned out to be pretty straightforward.

just took apart the back seat last night, the metal rods are connected by metal rings, just get plyers and bend them off, no big deal, just takes some time like azuresky said. not hard at all, just is time consuming.
