Default can the factory nav be made usable?

i have a 2008 scion tc with factory navigation. works well when stopped, but if you go over 5 mph the nav locks you out from changing address, etc.

i know that this is an attempt to keep ppl driving safely, but it's also a real hassle. by comparison, my honda recommends stopping before using nav, but doesn't lock you out.

is there a setting in the nav i'm unaware of? is there anyways to mod this nav to work the way i'd like it to? i tried the search, but couldn't come up with a solid answer.

thanks all!!
