Ive been slightly annoyed by the way my OBX shifter **** is either way too hot or way too cold. I have been using a leather glove to cover it up, to protect my hand from either being scalded or frozen. I think that the leather glove looks really stupid and is embarrassing when other people are in the car. I don't want to remove the ****, that is not an option. I was wondering if anyone has any ideas for shifter ball covers. Pictures would be awesome.

 

a sweat band... wrist band.. those things.. you know.. just leave it at the bottom of the shift boot.. someone on here does that until it cools down enough to touch.

Has anyone tried a footbag/hacky sack. I was maybe thinking of cutting the bottom off and dumping everything out. I think it might fit on the round ball type OBX shifters. Any other ideas?

 

why is changing it not an option? There's much better shift ***** out there that don't hurt ur hand depending on the weather. My Sparco CF **** is fine and it looks great

 

I've heard some people using socks and such...

but obviously, depending on your friends, that may be more embarrasing than a leather glove :p

 

Get one of those small water bottle insulating sleeves, or a beer bottle cozy. Cut the end off it.

Or maybe it's time to just change *****...

Because it looks so pretty! It matches the interior perfectly and it "wows" people. They always want to touch it and grab it (when Im not using a glove). That is why changing it is not an option.

My hand had been burning for couple weeks now with the OBX shift ****. I love the ****, but the chrome is just too hot. I had to grab the carbon fiber portion just to shift. I actually found one of those "scion socks" for ipods and just stick it on there. Reduces the heat a little.

 

Try using a golf club cover.

I spent the weekend in some hot weather and my shift **** was burning hot when I was getting ready to drive home. So I got the AC going, took off the shift **** and held it in front of the vent for a minute while rotating. That worked well.

 

Just wondering, but which obx **** is it? the regular speed star or the mesh?

And also, Do you have tinted windows?

 

i have a monsterknob. it's like black eurothane i think. it doesn't get really hot in the sun and it doesn't freeze my hand off in the winter.
i have the obx speedstar **** too, it's the same size, but it leaves burn marks sometimes...
i got the monsterknob off of ebay, but you can get it from monsterknobs.com (note: it will look like a ball on a stick if you have the stock shifter, it looks ok, but it looks much better on a short shifter)
