Default Shifter Light? Dumb question...

I just got an Alpine 9883 installed and yesterday noticed that I couldnt see what gear I was shifting into on my Automatic at night. I know you can look at the dash to see what gear it's in but I seem to remember their being some sort of illumination on the gears strip right below the shifter when you turn the lights on. Can anyone confirm this for me?
The only electrical plug on that panel that I can see in the install manual is the cigarette lighter power and that works. So I may be mistaken.

Thanks much,

should be a bulb that may have been moved.
I think this happened to me once.

Take the bottom cover off that covers the shifter and look there.

Shouldnt be anything major

Yeah it should be illuminated.

Nice opportunity to switch that bulb out with an LED!

I found a small plastic basket type plug about the size of the end of a pinkie finger on the floor. I have no idea where thats supposed to be either.

Yeah when you take apart the waterfall section on the tC, you have to take all the shift parts and center pieces off first, which, if you're tuggin' along, you can rip the wires where that bulb is if you're not careful. If you found that piece, it sounds like its broken.

But hey nows the perfect opportunity to do a shift-**** conversion on the cheap!
