Default show me amber dome led's

hey guys. i'm thinking about swapping the door-open light in my dome to amber, as well as the cargo lights, and after extensive searching, i've been unable to find any pictures of this mod. SOMEONE must have done this. it seems like everyone has done blue, and that looks nice, but i want to see if amber led's would look good, and if they'd match the gauge and hvac lights. if anyone has done this, PLEASE post pics. thanks.

People have done it, many times. I know I have, but not with amber, with blue. I think most people that do LED swaps shy away from amber, since it's what is used stock in the dash/gauges.

I can get some pictures of my blue ones if you want...

I'll see if I can remember to take a pic. I've got a few extra amber bulbs layin' around, I'll swap 'em in and snap a pic or two tonight for ya.

please please do. i'd really really appreciate it. with a name like captainlaziness, i know you'd be doing me a huge favor to even bother doing it, and being quite the lazy person myself, i'd appreciate you taking the time.

i'll be anxiously awaiting some pics. the more the better.

thanks again.

It's gonna be later tonight when I go by my Mom's. Plus, it'll be easier to see at night anyway.

whenever's good for you. thanks so much. if you have enough lights/time, it'd be cool if you could get pics of like, just the center dome on, just the map lights on, all 3 on, etc. but anything you could do will be great. i just need an idea. but the better idea i have, the more it'll help.

thanks again man. people like you make the lives of people like me so much easier.

Ok, my pics didn't come out as well as I was hoping. The amber LEDs I had just weren't too bright and I'm still figuring out the camera and I didn't have a tripod. But enough excuses, here are the pics:

Map lights close-up

Map lights further away

Map lights and center HVAC controls

Sorry, I forgot to put 'em in the dome light. However, it would have looked about the same. The color wa a fairly close match, not exact, but close. Hope that helps.

If you do end up switching them out, get WHITE leds for the map lights, or leave them stock and just change the one dome LED. It's near impossible to see with colored light when you need to read something in the car. You only need to swap the center LED (the dome that triggers on with the doors opening) it will light the car alone with the back dome.

Here's some white I did in my 4runner using 8 of my superflux 4-chip LEDs on a circuit board. http://www.oznium.com/four-chip-led

It is an amazingly bright, crisp white light

Sure can. Do you want 8, or do you want it even brighter.

I'll swap them in the dome light in my tC, then mail you the dome light and you mail your stock dome light back to me.

I assume you want white, correct?
