Default Slowly putting a system together...

Hey everyone,

Just joined and I have a question. I have an Alpine CDA-9887 in my tC right now and I'm looking to add a sub next. Maybe I'm insane but I'd like to keep the rest of the system Alpine also. Would their Type-S sub fit in one of the custom dual 10" stealth boxes or would its mounting depth be too deep (4.3"/110mm)? If it will fit, are these even worth having? If its not I'll probably go with the eD SQ10. Rock is the main thing I listen to. I'd appreciate any help you can give me!

Thanks!

i don't believe in the small stealth setups. if you want big sound you'll need a fairly big package.

the ED SQ10 will give plenty enough bass for the music you like......I decided to do this as well and am going to do the 6.5 sub they offer for the front in each door withthe mid and tweeter as well.......and do a 6000 in the back.........it should sound good.

a single ten SEALED just wouldn't go low enough, loud enough to satisfy me.

Thanks for the fast replys. I probably should have mentioned that I do want to go with the stealth box for sure...I like my space lol. Almost everything I've read about the SQ10 has been good, but I haven't found anything on the Type-S. I'm going to make the dual 10" stealth box. Anybody have anything on the Type-S? If not, that makes this pretty easy...and I'll go with the SQ10's.

the type-s won't fit in there. the sq 10 will, and a few others make slim subs.

my advice is to not try and keep to all alpine to just because. I suggest you go listen to different speakers and get the ones that sound the best to you. Some companies make one thing good and are not good at another. For example Alpine makes good source units for the most part but their speakers are not up to par.

Thanks for the advice Steve. I'm going with the SQ10 for the subs because of all the good things I've heard about them. When I decide to get new interior speakers I'm going to try to find a place around here that has some Focal speakers so I can hear what they sound like.

there are a couple of guys that have 2 SQ10s in hidden box,but they used fiberglass to make the box and made there own face for it..........my glass skills suck so I am going to use a single premade box....
