Default stereo question

does anyone elses stock stereo fade in and out when you have it turned up pretty loud???? mine seems to do so when there is alot of bass in songs...the first bass hit is loud then everything gets kinda way quieter for a few seconds.

Well first question: what is the total wattage of your system? What is the gauge wire you are running between the battery and your amps?

by chance, are you having problems with the feature of your radio that increases and decreases as your speed up and slow down.

anyway, no, i have never had these problems with my stock radio, but i don't have the bass maxed out, or the volume way up when listening to music with lots of bass, but i don't think it is really possible for the car produce so much stereo impact that it drains itself afterwards.

Yea somehow I managed to miss the "stock" part of his post lol... I was alluding to a capacitor

Perhaps the newer stock radios have a protection circuit in them that backs the power off if it figures there's too much going to the speakers, or distortion is occuring... Just a thought :-\

Is the car still within warranty?

Ask the service department at the dealership about it. If it's within warranty, have them take a look at it.

You may find more info by talking to a store that specializes in car stereos. I say specialize because Best Buy is not the place to go for that.

Hope that helps.

if you still have warranty and the stock system, let the dealer look at it. Thats the reason you have your warranty.

Most factory units will do that. Its the internal amp. At a certain point the lows stop increasing and the highs dont, so it seems like your loosing the base.
