Default Stock H/U with system

Alright, alright. Don't tell me...I used the search button and couldn't come up with anything

Heres my question. I've got a whole aftermarket system to go in my Tc when I pick it up, but I'm not sure if I have any way of hooking up the RCA's to the factory H/U. Is there any way to do this? I figured there may be a chance since the bazooka is an option and it must be amplified. Thanks to whoever can help me out

The JL Cleansweep units are the best for integrating to an OEM HU.... but they're expensive!!

you could just use a Line Level Converter from anyone around but it's not going to give you quite the sound that the cleansweep or an AudioControl unit would give you..

that Cleansweep unit looks awesome. It is pretty pricey...just wish I could hear the difference with one to determine whether it is worth it to buy that instead of an aftermarket radio.

I also used the RCA adapter from the ebay link a few posts up. It does the job and is easy to install. Highly recommended if you want a simple way to add some bass

^^^ yea.... honestly, I'd only use the cleansweep if I was wanting to do some SQ competitions.... other than that, the standard RCA LOC will do the trick..

the cleensweep is cool...

just expensive... and i have only used it when the vehicles fact h/u is impossible to replace... or justoo expensive to replace... like i just used one in a G35... was giving me problems... but now the car sounds FANTASTIC...

for the money of a cleansweep.. you could get a phat deck and replace the stock one...

yeah id go with the thing on ebay, plug and play, plus the aftermarket sub is amplified but its in the box and the sound is not carried through rca wires like a normal sub, its through a pin connector from the HU to the sub, and the power is also carried in that

yeah, I'm using the eBay thing too. Works well. I don't want to replace the factory radio...

Does anyone know if the factory radio will lock if you remove it? I know GM vehicles lock if they are unplugged and won't work until the dealer unlocks them. That's what i am afraid of...I want to be able to re-install it if I do replace it.

If this were the case, i would have been screwed many times over. I've removed the stock stereo so many times without a problem.

Hmmmm... this adaptor seems easy to make. Is there any chance anyone could lcheck which pins (and wire color) the RCA connector comes off of when looking at the back of the radio? It's worth 5 bux if someone can get the info to me today

I like the eBay adapter because it's a clean and easy install. No splicing and can be done in 5 minutes. But the cheapest way to do this would be to get a line level converter (about $10+)from some local audio shop or Best Buy or something. The instructions on how to hook it up are always included. You tap into/splice/whatever the left and right speaker lines for either your front or your rear speakers (or both depending on your set up).

The specific wire colors are:
LF - White
RF - Grey
LR- Green
RR - Purple
The striped wire is the (+) and the solid color is (-)

Remember that if you ever play with the fader and reduce the signal to whatever speakers you are tapped into, you will also lose the signal to your sub. But if you have an amp that can accept two sets of RCAs (i.e. Infinity Basslink), just tap both front AND rear speakers and you'll never have to worry about what your fader setting is at.
