Default stock head unit inputs

just bought an xm skifi2 and want to hard wire it in. does sat ready mean there is a spot for me to plug 'er right in? what do i need?

brief aside, why does the manual say hard wiring doesn't sound as good as the cassette adapter? seems odd, no?

This is my first shot at audio work. Always (search first) and ask you guys before i get ***** deep in a pro-ject.

Appreciate your help wise guys

You need the car kit. I have also seen suction cup mounts which are pretty cool. I would use the AUX port if you have a 06 tC. Otherwise I think the SkiFi2 has a FM Transmitter built in. Just use that (1 less wire to have). Then you need to run the antenna to the car kit and power.

Do you still have the stock Pioneer?

For the Sat Ready - you would need to use XM Direct -> http://xmradio.com/xm_direct/index.jsp

This will not work with the stock HU. It would allow you to control the XM with your HU. You will have to controll XM with your SkiFi2 controlls.

Since you have an '05, I'd get the toyota PIE adaptor.

This allows you to run RCA inputs into your stock deck and get the best sound.

IT WILL be much, much better that a cassette (Which we don't have) or FM modulated option.

There are a couple of threads about how to do it.. and it's really pretty easy (Just plug and play)

Tim to the RESCUE!

That is the best option, everything else will not give you the sound you want...
