Default Stock Subwoofer wire

In the 2009 tC, where are the wires that connect audio/pwr to the stock subwoofer? I installed the Pioneer AVIC-X710BT this weekend and noticed that I am not getting sound from my sub after replacing the stock head unit. Any help would be appreciated.

Also, if anyone knows why I am not getting a signal from my HD tuner (GEX-P10HD) even though it is being recognized correctly by the head unit. I connected the power, antenna (which works when plugged directly into the head unit), and IP Bus. I read somewhere that you need to switch the direction of the IP Bus if that happens but I haven't tried that yet.

Lastly, my bluetooth phone keeps stealing control randomly from the head unit. Sometimes a call will come in and I will be able to answer using the system correctly. Other times my phone will steal the audio so I have to put it to my ear to hear anything... This may just be an issue with my phone.

Thanks for any help you can provide.

After calling Pioneer, I found out that the HD tuner was DOA. So I'm going to try and exchange it for one that works.

They also told me that my phone may not be completely compatible with the head unit.

Now I just need to figure out how to hook up the subwoofer and then put some nice trim around the head unit. Maybe push it back a little bit too since the door doesn't completely close over the screen.

Bazooka sells an ela harness adapter on their website. I called them and they said that it will work with the stock vse sub. I ordered it the other day and when it gets to my house i am going to try it out. It has an rca connection in it. I bought a new HU too and that will get installed at the same time. Maybe I'll make a post about it if it works out.

Scion used the power antenna wire as the remote turn on wire for the 08+ oem sub in the trunk. Take your remote turn on wire from the HU and connect it to the power antenna wire on the wiring harness that connects into the stock wire harness.

So I take the wire coming from the stock side that is labeled as the "Power Antenna" (happens to be a blue wire since I connected a Wiring Adaptor in order to not void my warranty) and connect that wire to constant power 12V. Have you done this and know that it works? What about the speaker wire? Does it just get a signal from the rear speakers or something?

Nooo... don't do blue (antenna/turn on) to yellow (constant). Since you have an aftermarket harness in there it will probably just be blue (or blue/white) from the deck to blue (or blue/white) on the car side of the harness.

Worst case is you might have to put the old deck back in, and look for 'empty' spots on the aftermarket harness that have unconnected wires on the car side of the OEM harness. If you see empty spots with the old deck plugged in, volt meter the output from the deck on those holes, and mimic that output by splicing wires on your new deck.

Essentially, you're looking for whats missing, and putting it right.

I said your remote turn on, switched 12v, amp turn on what ever it may be called. If you wire it to a 12v constant you will drain your battery because I it will always be on

Let me go find the post you need.

So then the wiring is still the same in the 2009 tC? I will experiment this weekend when I have the time to take it apart and look.

yes, they haven't changed the radio wiring from the 2008 to 2009s.

I have a 2009 and all the wires are the same as what they were talking about in that post. I actually unplugged mine. I didn't like it.

There was a small change in some wires from 07 to 08 I think. This only becomes an issue when you have to do an in dash DVD install.

I had some free time this morning so I experimented with the wiring. When I connected my blue wire (again, this blue wire is part of the wiring harness that connects to the stock side) to the red wire (switched 12V) my stock subwoofer turned on like a charm. Thanks guys!!!

TL;DR - Blue wire is the remote turn on for the stock subwoofer. Connect this wire to switched 12V and you're good to go!
