Default Sub problem with stock head unit

Two days ago I had a memphis Mclass 12 inch subwoofer installed in the trunk space of my tc. I came to a redlight and when the songs switched I noticed that the sub was no longer active. When i switched the SSP from nuetral to hear, the sub came back on and continued to work untill today. Once again sitting at a redlight I noticed the sub was not on, this time it dosen't work with the feel or hear SSP settings. If it matters im running an American Pro amp. Any help would be great... thanks

are you running a high low converter? or just have it tapped into the rear speaker outputs? is the amp turning off or just the sub itself? might just be a loose wire inside the box and a coincidence that it stops working when you switch eq settings

I had it installed at a local shop which I do belive used a Hi to Low converter, (which I will be calling as soon as they open) However, one the sub quit working in the nuetral SSP, I was using the neutral SSP as an off switch for the sub. Would a new headunit possibly rectify this situation?

getting a new headunit will definately change the quality of the sound and make everythign a lot easier in the long run. but where did you mount your amp? it could be getting overheat and going into thermal protection more where it just turns off cause its too hot. also double check the connections, tap splices can tend not to get a bite on the wire and that could be a possibility for your problem too. also check the ground that they used, maybe its loose or something, shoot it maybe even the power to the amp. long story short just double check all your wires from the lineout converter to the power on your amp. if it doesnt turn off then its definately your lineout converter, and if it is too hot when you touch it, its most likely your amp going into thermal mode.

^^^ My first guess was thermal as well. Then I saw American Pro. Isn't the most expensive amp they make like $100? Yikes.

HU shouldn't matter in this scenario, that's not the issue unless they shop did the LOC install wrong or your HU is defective. I really think you should go back to that shop, inform them of the issue and see what they have to say. A good shop will stand behind their work (the integrity of the install) and shouldn't sell or implement a solution that doesn't function as intended, so maybe it can be resolved without resulting in any additional expense to you...if you used a good shop.

If youre running a HI/LOW converter. Here is the settings I Use to keep my sub from shutting off on me. Bass (NO MORE than +2) and Vol you can go to 40 at max. or it will cut off after a little while. Leave it 40 or under with 2 on the bass and it will never cut out on you.

What about your gain settings? Not all amps and subs are the same.
