Default Sub Recommendations

I listen to a lot of metal rock and rap and hip hop i currently am going to be doing my system and i have a 10" DVC Bazooka Bass tube..its nice but it doesnt hit in some notes that id like. So im debating between 2 or 4 eu-700's or 1 or 2 10" subs the only problem i have is i do not what kinda subs to get i might think of 2 or 1 12" sub(s). I want a set or single sub that will hit low notes well and still be able to hit those deep notes. Any one have any recommendations on any subs i should look into or what i should look for when buying a sub. price range is varying for now. The entire car from windows down will be RaaMatted soon(sp). I will have one dedicated sub amp and a 4 channel amp for the 2 front and rear speakers. Any help.

i have a single 12" Kicker CompVR pushing 400watts. i also listen to rock and hip hop (mostly hip hop) and it kicks like i am at a concert (i work in production so i know what it feels like. lol) but a big part of that kick also depends on what lil will said about how much you wanna drop and also, getting a new headunit with good EQ helps alot too .

the SI magnum is an awesome sub. the 12" when played w/ 1000 watts rms or so (easy to obtain when you run @ 1 ohm load w/ the D2 voicecoil setup SI offers) sounds amazing. keeps up with fast beats and hits damn hard on the low notes.

the first sub that i wanted was a SS 10" RL-i. Pure sound quality here in this sub. Put it in a .75cu/ft sealed enclosure and send 400ish watts rms to it and it will be bliss to yours ears

Look into Image Dynamics. If you want the bad daddy of all subs, go with the IDMAX. And to all you JL people (because I know I'm gonna hear it), don't get me wrong, I like JL... in fact I use their amp, but the IDMAX puts the W7 to shame, and it costs less.

If your looking for a quality 12" sub and you have the money i would buy the Diamond TDX12 (http://www.onlinecarstereo.com/CarAu...roductID=12446) or any of their subs.

If you want something that will slam go with Kicker, I've had them in everyone of my cars and I'm still happy with them

It's nice that there are other people on this site that appreciate the good stuff! It seems like most people on this site consider eD the holy grail when it comes to car audio. Not that there is anything wrong with that, eD makes great stuff (see sig) but there is other stuff out there! There is so much great equipment out there, it baffles me when this question comes up and usually the only responses are JL, Kicker etc.

I hear what your saying about trying new things but when you buy Diamond and Kicker you get what you pay for

Another thought of mine is class, I would'nt show up to a car show or anything and be show some off brand stuff that no one has heard of

lol! When it comes to class... the sites I listed are at the top of the list! Anybody who is really into car audio can tell you that. Just because the stuff I listed isn't sold at BestBuy or Circuit City doesn't mean it isn't top of the line equipment. I would put my RE XXX up against a JLW7 anyday of the week!!

As far as getting what you pay for, those sites listed go above and beyond. If you were to ever have an issue with any of their gear you could call them direct and talk to the techs that actually build the equipment (in most cases). I have beat the hell outta my sub for well over a year (1200watts+) and it still performs just like the day I pulled it out of the box. That is a lot more than I can say for any other equipment I have owned in the past.

Do me a favor and go to a car audio show and let me know how many people you see there running this "off brand" stuff. I am sure you will be pleasently surprised!

I know a lot of that push is me... but I DON'T consider eD to be the be all end all of car audio... The main reason I push Elemental Designs so hard is the amazing value, service, and performance that they have to offer... I've not yet found a COMPANY - as a whole - that I like as much as Elemental Designs... they've got the whole package. Great products, Great prices, Great customer service/tech service, Great warranty, and the employee's are second to none...

As far as I'm concerned - There isn't a better company to deal with for the $$$ than Elemental Designs

I completely agree with you TC_GUY. I am not debating that at all. I love my eD products! The customer service is far beyond what you would expect from any online retailer. I am just stating that there is much more out there. Car Audio is a huge world I like to explore one place at a time lol.

I am sure a majority of the people on this site considered eD to be "off brand". Simply because they had never heard of them before joining ScionLife. But now because people are actually using eD products they probably consider it top notch. Which is deserved. The other companies that I listed are the same... considered garbage because they aren't neccesarilly main stream. But once you use any of the products I listed all that "off brand" bs goes straight out the window!

stl_tc_king mentioned the IDMAX, Image Dynamics is also another outstanding company! The IDMAX is a great sub.
