my old subs used to do that. When Id turn the car on the subs would make a little thump. My new subs dont do that anymore. Im guessing it must be something Amp-remote orientated.

since u are running a stock headunit u have to be running a hi/lo convertor. it basically uses the signal from ur speakers and converts them into RCA outputs. most convertors have signal adjustment ***** on them. try to turn the signal down a bit and see what that does. I did an install once and the same problem was there this, after adjusting the signals everything was fine. even now I am running a stock deck with subs and have no problems at all.

Get an amp that has silent turn on and you wont have that issue.

you might want to go back and double check and make sure that all your wires are ran right. if you don't have the pos and neg hooked up right then you can run into problems with that thump. If there fine it could be your ground wire not properly grounded.

instead of suggesting he go out and spend a ton of money, just becuase you think it's cool, how about you actually try to help him solve the problem he has.

if you've got the ipod hookup, it means you have the upgraded factory HU. so there is no LOC (line output converter).

To the OP, sounds like one of your grounds is bad. Go back and check them.

how's that spending a ton of money? you can easily find one for cheap either here or on ebay. it takes care of his problem.. and i wouldn't be recomending it if i didn't know from personal experience.

it pops cause of your amp is turned up too high. atleast there is no distortion when you have the desired volume maxed, everything is ok. do not replace or so anything, it works fine. you need to adjust your amp down alittle more.

best thing to do is turn your amp down to lowest and have the desired volume on your head unit you would like to have at max, slowly turn up your amp till a distortion occurs, when you hit the distortion just bring the amp alittle down under distortion point and your good to go..

DISTORTION includes CLAPPING noise on the sub or MUDDY noises! get someone knows alot about speakers to actually hear out the distortion. you might get confused between the music and distortion.
