I get a little rattle when my volume is up 60%+. I haven't put any sound deadening in the back yet. Cash is low right now, so the rattle stays for now.

this is what i have with 300 watts rms going to it and it just barely makes anything rattle. certain songs will make certain things rattle but most of the time nothing rattles, just nice clean bass.

I've got a pretty good system, all top quality stuff. My subs are two 10 W3V3-4's. Most of my rattle is the paneling surrounding the hatch window. I havent put any sound deadening in it yet, i havent felt it nessecary. It's amazingly less rattle than i was expecting...subs totally reccomended.

I'll post pics when I get all of my stuff installed. We shall see. My last car, 2006 Civic SI, didn't rattle from my system. I am mainly into SQ so it isn't too loud. In about a month we shall see what kind of rattling an IDQ15 with about 300-350 watts will do sealed to my tC.

no offense to those that do it, but i will never understand why people use huge boxes that take up their whole trunk of thier car??? plus a car of our size... i can understand maybe one 10" or even 2, but one 12" in a huge ported/unported box is just crazy to me.... again no offense to those who do.. I plan to do a custom box inlaid in the floor of my truck, removing the spare of course... I know its custom, but it make more since to do this then having a big figgin box with a 12 that will blow the friggin windows out and not practical in the real world... it makes great sound for competition, but custom always wins out... to each his own i guess.. later..

i've heard of people loading some pretty heafty systems in the Scion vehicles. to what i know about the general window blow out area of all vehicles is that the sound presure level "SPL" need to exceed about 155-160db to blow out a sun roof. i would expect a blowout of the windows at around the same point at the vehicle's resonence frequincy.

now when it comes to dampening, i would dampen everything. basicly, do a full detail job and dampen the whole thing and shouldn't have to worry about ratteling unless you have a system like mine...

let me put it this way... i'm being called insane on another audio forum for my plans to load two JBL 15" GTi subs in the back of a Xb. i'm also told by JBL and the JBL team that a pair of the 15s in a vehicle without a basstrap problem *basicly any settup in a trunk and not in a hatch* is actualy capable of nausiating anyone within a 30 foot area of the vehicel... but i have my reasons, noone here has the right settup so this is my jester to those in my area who think they have a good system ------> "bring it".

to answer your question SCIONX about huge boxes, each box is tuned diffrently for a diffrent frequency or for a harder hit. its just like having a bandpass vs, sealed, vs, ported. and with a bigger box, just gives alot more room for the air to move, and getting a harder kick in the long run. it all comes down to personal preference. a bigger box doenst necessarily mean better sound. i also dont think those boxes are necessary, but hey .. as you said.. to each their own ..lol

ear plugs are my friends . it'll be apparent though, at times of extreme output that i WONT be inside the vehicle... i'm sorry, i've been around 140db low tones for long periods of time... i'd hate to experience what these beasts are capable of... i'm told ONE would produce 140-145db... and i have two...
