Default Suede/Micro Fiber to wrap interior?

Anyone know a good company to order some microfiber from to do my intereior with? I don't want the cheap stuff you get at a fabric store! I want the stuff they use in car shops, but between $30-$40 a yard that is too much. I would rather buy direct from someone online!

microfiber is used to dry off and dust cars....... and pretty absorbant.... picks up dust the best without risking scratching your paint.... umm... not a choice for wrapping your interior....

suede though is a good choice... but as prices go... $30-40 is pretty good... dunno if you can find anything significantly cheaper..

Microfiber is too scotchy or sticky to use for interior wrap... it holds onto dirt, dust, and hair like nothing I've ever seen.... I use Microfiber cloths to clean everything now...

If you take your car to any shop to have suede work done ask them what they use! The suede used in cars is not real suede(it is to hard to work with and too heavy). It is Microfiber that looks like suede! I already have my headliner and pillars done in it, but I bought the microfiber from a shop out in Maryland. I want to order some offline and have it sent to me here in Utah so I can cover my dash and my fiberglass in the trunk( fiberglass is painted right now and there are too many cracks in the edge of the paint and I cant afford to keep repainting it!)

the cracks in the box maybe from bad fiberglass material. but back to the subject. i was also into getting some suede or microfiber suede for my interior. my friend has an upholstery store and he told me that i can just get it from anna's linens a local store. but the fabric is too hard to work with. the suede i want has a hard back not the soft back like they have at linen stores. so before you order anything ask them what type of backing it has. get the smooth backing its easier to get it to stick.

Microsuede is a type of microfiber! Or I should say microfiber can be made into alot of different styles, suede being one of them!

Yes microfiber is used to make cleaning cloths. It is also used to make silverware cloths, clothes, as well as upholster furniture!

velvet would be cool until you sat on it! It mats really easily and would not look very nice after that! Or if you are talking about just the headliner and pillars that would be cool, just don't put it somewhere that will see any kind of wear. Velvet wears really fast too!

not a good choice to wrap your interior with. microfiber is used to clean cars. get suede like the others said, or even leather.

I think the stuff you want is called Ultrasuede and Alcantara

Toray America owns both Ultrasuede and Alcantara, however, Ultrasuede is designed for high end furniture applications and not vehicular applications. If you look at fine home furniture, like Roche Bobois, Rolf Benz, Scan Design, Alivar, etc....the synthetic suede that they use is Ultrasuede.

THe big problem with Ultrasuede is UV resistance. I was good buddies with the ex- marketing VP at Ultrasuede in NY and he admitted that some of the UV ratings were so poor that they would not even mark them on the color card. Some of the ultrasuede is rated for 40 hours! THis is largely due to the pigments and dye stuffs used.

Alcantara Automotive on the other hand, made in Italy, meets ASTM specifications for OEM automotive applications. This is the same material that is used in the Audi S4, RS6, S8, A8, Maserati, Mercedes AMG cars, etc...The Color card I have even features the OEM colors for these vehicles. The UV index is Greater than 160 hours on the Automotive Alcantara.

It won't be cheap as the Alcantra was about $130.00 a yard last time I checked.

A few more facts:

High fashion material.

Leading product on the market with no competition.

Extensive color range.

State of the art- It isn't even a fabric, it is a triaxially woven plastic!

Superior UV resistance.

EVERYTHING cleans off of with hand soap and water- Here is a short list- chocolate, blood, beer, lipstick, ink, oil, suntan lotion, milk, coffee, etc...All of this and much more cleans off with simple hand soap and water.

And, let's look at who uses it:
Lamborghini
Aston Martin
Maserati
Mercedes and their AMG division
BMW
Ferrari
Audi
Koenigsegg (sp?) Swedish supercar built to de-throne the McLaren F1
Etc, etc, etc...

I've said it once and I will say it again:

You Gotta Pay To Play

I know all about Alcantara! But like you said $130 or more a yard! I am not driving a high end AMG or Aston Martin! Simply a Scion tC! I am looking for a cheaper material. It is not hard to find microsuede on the internet for sale, but it is almost imposible to find it in the right colors! So far the only color I have found that I have already used in my car is black! I am looking for silver/light grey. I know someone out there makes it because I have seen it on a few cars!

If I had 50-100 thousand to throw down on this car then I would be looking at Alcantar along with every other high end product for cars! But I don't!

Well arn't you just pesamistic!

My company does it.

Where are you located? And could I possibly get a price quote from you? Normaly I would do it myself, except I have no idea how to reupholster my seats! If I could get the seat 2 toned in silver and black from you I might as well have you do the trunk, door panels, and boot as well! What would all that cost me in silver microsuede? I just want the front seats done, not the rear seats as I am going to replace them with fiberglass anyways!
