TAPPING INTO PRE-WIRED LEDs???

TAPPING INTO PRE-WIRED LEDs???
Okay, so I'm sure some of you ordered the interior LED package from Scion when buying your tCs. It's a great package, but I really wished they finished the job, as in the back seat area. I'm by means NO ELECTRICAL EXPERT, but with a little direction i think i can pull it off, so hopefully someone can help me because I want to finish it off myself. I was planning on tapping into the cupholder LED wires because the wiring is very accessible and seems very convenient for the backseat floor lighting, especially since all the lighting is controlled by that one illumination switch...so it only makes sense for all the lights in the car to be powered by one switch
Here are my questions:
1. Is it possible for me to tap into those wires which power those bulbs?
2. Do I have to use LED type lighting in the back as well to keep a consistency, or are neon tubes okay?
3. What types of wire taps should I use?
4. Is there anything else I need to know about before I go on with this project?
Please, when posting replies, assume I know NOTHING about electrical work. I'd really hate to make a mistake with this one. ...bad experiences!
Thanks for your help!!

1. yes
2. whatever that runs on 12V, but keeping them leds allows for better matching for colors
3. anything, but t-taps will allow for easy removal and stuff.
4. not much.
