Default tCover ISSUES!!!!!!!!

Ok just got the product today packadged very well and the instructions seem self explanatory. so here is the prob...initially i had every thing together put the fuse in and nothing happened. so i turned the key on and still nothing happened. So i figured a bad crimp in the factory wire harness, pulled everything back apart and rechecked crimps and colors then put it all back together and put the fuse in, still nothing happened. so i turned the key to the "on" position again and the cover moved just shy of the top of it's movement. so i turned the key to off, nothing happened. turned the key to on, the cover jerked down about half way and then back up. thinking there was an obstruction to the servo arms i popped the consol out looked every thing was good reatached it. i figured that maybe i just need to start to try to program it, so i pushed the switch down and nothing happened. went back to center still nothing pushed up on the switch the cover went half way down, switch to center cover went back up to original position. switch upside down. right so i took the panel out flipped it and reinstalled it. so with the key still at "acc" i pushed down on the switch cover goes down half way, center on switch i goes back up to the top push up on the switch nothing no groaning of the servo no sounds. turned the key to off then back to acc the cover jerked again but i noticed that the right front speaker is buzzing it lasted for about a second and stopped. tried it again same result. so i thought lets just try to program it i let the car sit for about five min key off switch in center.....then did the first program feature.... switch down then from off to acc to off 4 times in 4 sec key in off position moved the switch and nothing happens. cover does not respond to the switch at all. let it sit for a min with the switch on center. tried it again and again with not luck at all each time with with the speaker buzz. all i could get it to do was the show mode but the cover would only go from the all the way up position to midway then back up.....then i can program it to stop. i pulled the consol back out of the car. to check servo arm it is in center of the servos throw. checked the little dials all are in the center. cover moves freely no binding. put the cover all the way down to install tuned the key to acc the cover goes all the way up. key to off tried to program again and no luck speaker still buzzed for a sec then stopped tried to do it in the up postion on the switch still nothing. it almost acts like my switch is wired wrong ............. switch is wired up red, center white, down black, plug is wired if looking at the plug installed in car top red mid white bottom black..........
I am at a loss i dont know what to do pulled to console out and checked to colors of the wires and the corresponding power harness and it was all correct. and i dont want to try to re wire stuff unless that is needed i have an 06 tc with the baseline pioneer deck in it no audio changes. i need some info on the wiring and any i deas that i have over looked, i have also contacted the manufacturer. thanks guys!!!

So Basicily what your saying is that you installed it but now it kind but doesn't work? Don't worry, I had the same problem. What the instructions didn't tell you is that there are two blue wires. One blue wire is a I think 4 amp fuse wire while the other blue wire has the power that is needed for the device.

If your ever on the freeway and going faster than 75 mph, check out your radio cover. If it starts to move independantly of the switch, then you've trapped the wrong blue wire. Mine also would start to move to the beat if I was going faster than about 75 mph and listing to music loudly on the stock head unit. I actually noticed this when I was going 82mph but whatever.

If there are any cops reading this that are in Nor Cal, this was a Scientific experiment and I should not be ticketed or fined in any way. This is not an admission of guilt for "excessive speed".

ok got it fixed!!!! there are two wires on the main radio harness. the one that needs to be tapped into is the one all the way on the LEFT of the plug NOT the one towards the right of the plug. The cover works excellent! very easy to program. An one more note, shortly after i emailed the comapny at 930 pm thursday i got a call on my cell phone at 10 pm from the manufacturer of the company!!! He told me what he thought it was and different things to look for, and he was right about the two blue wires as mista 3 said above. All i got to say is that they have some KILLER customer service to help with the product. i highly recommend this item i think it is way worth the money.

I'm just glad I could help. The guy that makes these should list this specific issue in the Troubleshooting Faqs.

Default tCover Wire Issues

Hi All,

Thanks for the compliments!

I am aware of the issue with the two Blue / Silver wires. I actually installed a tCover in a customer's '06 tC this weekend and took pictures of the wiring harness and created a document to show the correct wire to connect to.

Keith,

I'll post it on my web site tonight, please let you customers know that they should go to the tCover.net web site and download the page.

Thanks!

How much do you want me to include for shipping back up to me?

A little off topic but....will the tcover fix the "mouse" noise that the cover makes? and will it work with a pioneer avic-d1?

Just like I have posted else where....

Any double din will work with the cover in place....

Just have to relocate the holes....

And yea it fixes the squeak but the tcover has its own little noise.

The Best Noise in the World!

The sound of the servo moving the panel.... I actually like it, and you can make it pretty quiet if you slow the speed of the movement down...

It only makes the sound when it opens or closes... not when you are just driving around. It's absolutely silent then.... NO SQUEAKS.
