Default two 150w 10 inch subs VS one 300w 10 inch sub

i understand that more power does not necessarily mean more volume... but to what degree is this true?

i've got the factory subwoofer and i'm looking to expand a bit. i'd like to put an ed stealthbox with the sq10 in the the compartment next to the spare tire, but i want to know if i wouldn't be better off just changing the bazooka subwoofer out with a higher powered one.

does anyone have any ideas?

the bazooka sub box is extremely small and any 10" woofer you put in there will require a lot more space (or so i've read)

the eD sub box is a great little box for a lot more bump i suggest that. To power it a lot of people go with a nine.4 with a set of 6000 v.2's up front and its a great combo.

the issue with running more power to a sub woofer is typically they require more space because they move more. and with the bazooka sub you're very limited to what you can do. I know people have put an alpine type r in there but i'm almost 90% positive that the enclosure is way under rated for what the sub needs. Either way there you go

You have to think about quality vs quantity (per your title). I would perfer a single sub that will A) be more clear, B) sound better, C) and last longer then two alright ones. But the best way would be to go with two 300 watt subs.

Nebster has a very good point.

If I'm understanding you correctly...you're wanting to add the eD sub and enclosure to the OEM Bazooka one? OR swap the Bazooka subwoofer with a higher power model...right?

Unless the volume of each enclosure is identical, and each subwoofer is identical, I would NOT do this. Find a subwoofer that performs in small enclosures and swap the Bazooka driver for something better. The trick is going to find a driver that will physically fit in that enclosure...

I suggest these subwoofers for their excellent small sealed enclosure performance:

my chief concerns are current draw and amp placement. two high powered subs would be ideal but running the amps needed to power those and a set of component speakers would put a strain on a tc sporting an underdrive pulley.

i've read here and there that the alternator is rated at 90 amps. with the ud pulley i've been told an optimistic estimate would be 75-80 amps.

currently i have a 5 channel amp in the compartment next to the spare tire and i feel that it's a waste of space, especially if i can put an amp under the front seats or in the rear side panels.

and the current debate i'm having with myself is whether or not to put in an ed custome stealthbox in addition to the factory subwoofer, or just upgrade the bazooka subwoofer to something with more power but suited for a .75 cuft box, which the oem subwoofer enclosure is.

also rocketgyrl, what problems would i run into by having both the factory sub and the ed stealth sub?
i have a pvc pipe plug to turn the ported sub enclosure into a sealed one.
