Probably very little.

Wouldn't them firing at each other cause phase cancellation?

The boxes are made of a wood frame and fibre-glass back that is molded in the shape of the side walls. the left box is a little over 1 cu. ft. and the right box is 1.25 cu. ft.
I don't see why them firing at eachother when they have the same phase, and how is firing at eachother much different then firing towards the back of the trunk or window and the sound waves reflect back at the speaker.?
I've heard about that too and it could but it is still loud at shakes everything

Shouldn't be a prob at that distance, but if you want to you can create a diversion panel in the center of the hatch (wedge shaped smooth object) or you can reverse the polairity to one sub. I.E. - one pusher, one puller

I don't see why them firing at eachother when they have the same phase, and how is firing at eachother much different then firing towards the back of the trunk or window and the sound waves reflect back at the speaker.?
Because after sound strikes (bounces) an object the amplitude of the sound wave is different than when first produced.

what are the rattles like?

i have 2 12" L7s on order, mine are a d4 though so i can get a 1ohm final load, a zx1500.1 will be powering them, im going to have a false floor setup with them firing up at the glass.... i will also be using 3 bulk packs of dynamat extreme... 1 on the doors and 2 in the rear.... did you use any?

and also would it not sound better if both boxes were the same size?

I did use a sound deadener : B-Quiet Ultimate. its specs are close to the dynamat extreme but it is much cheaper. I have only covered the trunk floor and side walls but im am planning to do the rest of the car soon.
I dodnt know what effect the different box sizes have on the sound quality but i can't tell a difference when my head is in the middle of the subs. If anything the right sub is deeper than the left one.
