Default W7

Has anyone put a JL 12W7 in their tC? I was thinking about doing it. It would be running off a JL 1000/1 amp. What do you guys think?

W7 subs = BUMP in the trunk. Go for it...keep us up to date on things, if you decide to go for it.

Your charging system is going to need upgrade if you go with the 1000/1. The stock charging system will not support a 1000/1 under abusive conditions. If you do not want to upgrade the alt, go with the 500/1.

also... if your jumping for the jl route... and want a 1000.1 also jump to the 13w7.. that way you can run a 1.5 ohms and beat extra hard.. also... my recomondation... cause i just built one for a customer... the dual slot ported box for these subs is AMAZING... makes it beat incredibly hard...

agreed with JLTD: under hard running, your alt will eventually fry... you might be able to get away with 2 or 0 big 3 upgrade and a better battery....

tweetertc: The 13w7 is a DUAL 1.5 ohm... you'll have a choice of .75 ohm or 3 ohm mono... with the JL 1000/1, 1-4 ohms will all have the same power...

Look here
http://mobile.jlaudio.com/products_s...p?series_id=10

It says Dual 1.5ohm....

I'm kinda thinking it's actually just a Dual 3 ohm internally wired in series to make only a single terminal with a 1.5ohm load present there... not positive though.. either way, with a 1000/1 you'd put the same power to it from 1.5-4 ohms...

Won't help enough.... caps are good for SLIGHT transient peaks... a 1000/1 at full load will drain a cap in a second (figuratively speaking) and you'll be pulling your battery down quickly as well... Your BEST options would be:
1) Upgrade Big 3 with 0ga. or 2ga. wiring.
2) get a MUCH better battery... maybe an Optima or something equivalent.
3) if 1 and 2 don't help enough, purchasing a higher output alternator or having your alternator re-wound for more output would be the last step.

The reason alternators fry is because the amp is trying to pull more amperage (over a period of time, be it 10 minutes or 5 days) than your charging system has available. capacitors don't add in extra amperage, so they won't help very well.

Did you replace the alternator or the battery or get a capicator? Also that looks sick as hell haha
