Default Waterfall painting

So i just bought some flat black paint for the outside of the waterfall and a flat dark grey for the inside. I tried looking through the interior dash thread but theres was just too many pages to go through to find how to do it. Sorry im a little lazy

so is it just sand with 800grit then paint? I want that kind of smooth and nice texture that the stock water fall has just flat black. So do i need a flat type of clear??
Do i need to wetsand after? What sandpaper should i use through out

please and thankyououo

I used 400 grit wet sand and took it from there, then taped and tacked the part and painted it,a matte clear coat will give the paint some longevity and help with it not staining.

You'll want to start with something pretty rough like 400, but finish with something fine around 1000 to give a smooth finish. Use a flat/matte clear, otherwise it will scratch easily. Shouldn't need to wetsand after clear coating if it comes out to well enough to make you happy.

Let me ask a question? Why 400 grit? All you have to do is scuff up the silver...not remove all of it. I lightly wet sand with 1000 grit and it works perfectly.

yea i was going to say the silver is pretty smooth already why rough it up so much just to smooth it out again. Seems like a lot more work for the same result.

reason to start with 400 and take as much off as you can is to get a good clean surface, reduces the amount or work you need to do,once you primer it there will be no sanding marks after 400,then you can paint and clear and by the time you are done puttign on a few good coats it iwll be smooth.

Krylon has Matte Clear.
