Default Waterproofing HID Harness Relay + Install

So I picked up a HID kit and also ordered a relay harness from cliff to be safe. I was wondering what you guys did to waterproof the relay, and hide everything to keep the install looking neat?

I bought some liquid tape today at walmart. I'm gonna seal up the relay with that, then mount it upright somewhere out of view.

I'll have some pics as soon as the relay harness gets in, should be tomorrow.

I just wrapped the hell out of the relay with electrical tape.
I wanted to find some spray on silicone or "liquid tape" as you call it, but I was impatient and lazy.
I too am in the humid swamp state of Louisiana... My first relay rusted and crapped out... replaced the relay, then the second one crapped out eventually also. Rust leftover on the harness itself spread to the second relay...

So I bought a whole new harness and everything, and sealed it up from the start -- which I shoulda done the first time.

I need to go find some of that liquid tape spray stuff.

So I should be okay with the liquid tape then? I bought the one in the can that you brush on, but they had the spray too. I just planned on slathering it all over the relay to keep the moister out.

You'll probably be fine... probably a better solution than tape, since tape's glue can heat up, soften and loosen.
I did really tape a LOT onto my relay, so it should be ok...
but I'm probably gonna go get a bottle of the spray on stuff and hope that makes it more secure.

Where'd you find it? In the hardware section at Walmart?

Actually it was near the car audio section in Wal Mart, where they have wire, electrical tape, crimp connecters, etc.

It's probably in the hardware section too. If you can't find any I can let you use mine if you're close enough, or mail you some.

I'll go by the local Walmart in the next couple days and see if I can find it.
What is it called exactly? "Liquid tape" ?
Thanks for the offer to send some. If I can't find any, I might take ya up on that ;)

Haha no problem, and yeah it's actually called "liquid tape"

I used some today on some soldered wires that I had done and shrinktubed a while back, just to see how it works, and it's a great product. Dries in about 4 minutes and feels like rubber, but can be peeled off so it's not permanent.

Does the relay need to breathe at all? That was my main worry. If not I will just dip the relay into this stuff.

I'm pretty sure it doesn't need to breath at all.
Like I said before, I wrapped the hell out of mine with electrical tape.... I'm hoping no moisture creeped up into it somehow...
Make sure you get all around it. It's open on the backside and the actual connections are clearly exposed.
That's cool that it's easily removed.
