I would get a different amp personally. You wont see 1k out of that thing.
For say $350, I would get a zx750.1 (can be found on ebay for less than $200 shipped and will put out about 900rms and is better quality than crunch) and a 12" Ascendent Audio Arsenal (its rated at 500rms but you can just set your gains right and you shouldnt have any problems).....this will run you $375

I had a 10-inch JL sub in my old car (95 dodge avenger) and it was nice.

But my tC rattles as it is, I don't want to encourage it!

dont create multiple threads about the same subject unless your thread dies and if thats the case create a new thread with a link to the old one. personally get a different amp. get the PG Xenon 1200.1 or find a used eD NINe.1. The RSd's are good subs bu what kind of music do you listen too. if you listen to rock etc. get 10's if you like rap get 12's...10's will be more punchy over 12's but 12's will be louder. and yes i know rock has a lot of bass in the music too and can get lower than rap songs

the whole 10's are for rock.... and 15's are for rap is a myth. any size woofer can play any type of music. what music it plays best has nothing to do with the size but the specs of the woofer. you can use an 18 for rock if the T/S parameters match the way you'd like it to sound. also it depends greatly on the enclosure you put the sub into as well.

don't buy a crunch amp, they blow easily if your someone looking for heavy bass. i blew one which lasted like 1 week cause it couldn't handle it and my subs wanted more power so i gave it some more and the light on the bass control would blink protection until it just blew and my car smelled like smoke, the amp was a crunch 1500.1 and the subs where 2 12" polk momo. yes i installed it right and after i blew it i returned it for a hifonics brutus bxi1600D and it has 2 years going with the subs and no problems since, it also has more power than the crunch so IMO don't buy a crunch amp at all.

agreed. i used to have 2-8's and they'd work for both rock and rap/hip hop, and a buddy of mine has a wall of 10's and another has 2-15's. its all in how you tune it and the box is set up.

i took my last ten out of my car and swapped it for another ten just because it sounded like poop playing rock. it excelled on rap and hip hop, but sounded slow and sloppy for rock.

so i swapped it out for a different ten, in a different box as well. now i have a sub that sounds awesome for rock but doesn't sound boomy. some might not think it's ideal for rap though but honestly if i played rap through it, it should sound just fine. it just won't sound as boomy and loud on the lower notes.

*double sigh*

- i took a good chunk of time to write that PM and give some rec's for you. everyone here told you not to get crunch. stubborn, stubborn, stubborn. well enjoy, but if it breaks down in a few months, we aren't at fault.

what coils do the 2 rsd's have? unless they are dual 4ohm coils you won't get a 1ohm load. if they are single 4 then you will get either 2 ohm or 8 ohm final load.

and don't just say your are going to set your gains to 70%. do it right or you will have even more problems, use at least a DMM to set them to the corect voltage. i would say use an O-scope but most people don't have access to one.

i have my gain set at not even a quarter and it will put out full power on the right material, it's not just as simple as saying "hey i'll just keep it at 70%"
