Default What gauge speaker wire?

Hey guys. Going into my new installation of some Phoenix Gold RSD's and an Alpine PDX, I want EVERYTHING to be as good as I can get (for a reasonable price, of course). So when shopping for speaker wire, which should I concentrate on? I've been looking at this wire from knukonceptz: http://www.knukonceptz.com/productMa...peaker%20Kable

But I'm not sure which gauge is right for me... Keep in mind I'll be running 150wrms per channel with deadened&sealed doors. Thanks in advance!

you'd be fine with some 16 gauge. that may be too much for the speakers. for the power wire you could get away with 8 gauge

your right, i put up the wrong chart, but just so you know you gave him the wrong answer, the speaker wire doesnt depend on how much power, it depends n the equipment that is being used. he didnt tell me the equipment he's running, so i graped a chart, i got the wrong one. it happens now stop being a dick

14-16 gauge will be fine for any comp set running on any amount of power with any equipment. i would go with at least 4 gauge for the power wire. that single amp might not need 4 gauge but if you ever get a sub then you will need 4 gauge to power both amps

haha you're retarded. you're looking at the equipment he's running so you can get the power. it doesn't matter what your running as long as you have the right power ratings. i'll be a dick and you stop being 17 oh wait. you can't

Wow... that was a lot of help all at once lol....

So now next question: how much do I need? My amp kit comes with 20 feet of 12 gauge Klear Kable... will I need more? The amp will be mounted in the trunk and run to components up front in the doors.

Thanks!

depends where u mount your crossover. if you do it in the door you'll just need as much to go from the amp -> crossover, crossover -> mid. so 17 feet a side ish. if you mount it in the back you'll need more.

Oh wow, that's an interesting concept... I didn't think of mounting the crossover's in the back before Would having the crossover like right next to the amp and then 12 feet of wire running to the mid and tweeter produce lesser SQ than if the xover were right next to the components?

it wont produce an audible difference. you also wont gain anything by putting them back there. either way you're going to have to have a long run of wire to the front. if you put them in the back you'll have 2 because of the mid and the tweet
