What is the maximum amount of bass i should have in my car?
I am going to buy a subwoofer for my car and i am alittle confused on how much bass is too much bass. I currently have a 100watt amplified bazooka tube subwoofer, and i am thinking about getting another 200 watt sub. But is that too much bass for my car? should i just buy another 100 watt sub? Needd help
Mandos is absolutely right..I first started off in my 05 Civic with one JL 12"..then when I got the TC I knew I wanted louder so I'm pushing 2 12s...500 watts. But still not satisfied and thats where I'm at right now..in the process of upgrading to louder yet again. Maybe look into buying an amp thats real flexibile so you won't have to sell it if you want to upgrade to soething louder in the future.

?Theres no right or wrong answer to this question.. Dude its totally up to you, you can have as much or as little its your car.. The main thing that matters is where you bump your system, remember 1 thing the louder and harder the bass the more attention (from the wrong element) you draw. I had 2 12" lanzar lps in my corolla pushin 400 watts, I had 2 12" rockfords in my celica pushin a lil over 800 watts, in my Tc I going more than the 2 combined...
See I only have 1 infinity 10 being pushed by a 300 watt mono block.... and its more than enough bass for me. Once you get to the point where all you hear is bass, time to amp your fronts.
153 is hella loud!!! I'd say if you just want some extra good bass, a single 12" in a sealed box with ~300 watts would do well.... if you want to step up from there, get a better sub, ported box, and ~500-600 watts.... even bigger would be 2 12's in a ported box with ~800-1000 watts.... and if you want insane bass, 2 15's with 1800-2000 watts (but be prepared to get an alternator rewind, beefed up battery and new wiring)...
all in what you like.... If you think you'd like to double or maybe triple the bass you have now, a single 12" in a ported box with 400-500 watts would be a good choice

Generally speaking, it takes 3dB to make a noticable difference, and 10dB is perceived as being twice as loud. 6dB more with another 100w 10" like you have now would feel like quite a bit more bass, and might be enough for you.
^^ he's got the stock bazooka..... he needs to get rid of that first thing because it's going to sound like smashed @sshole if he just adds some random amp and sub to that as is..... the stock sub has 0 tunability and needs to be crossed over around 60Hz which it's not....
Get rid of the sub you have!!

It really varies person to person. With that 18" in my car, it was capable of breaking 140dB...was pretty loud

I know that it can be done. I was just wondering . Because I have a street b db drag car and most are in the low 150's to mid 150's with any where from 2 12" to 1 15"
but with a crap load of power.

If it is a tube and not the tC special bazooka, then I still say adding another might meet his requirements. If it's the tC sub, too bad they don't make one for the other side, and I agree in that case if he wants more bass, he'll have to go with another solution. It's important to match subs, as different brands/models/enclosures usually don't perform well together.
Now I'm wondering why you implied crossing over at 60Hz to be optimal, without specifying a slope/order. You can't specify one for people without considering the other. Also, the ideal crossover point will vary depending on the vehicle, sub/sat system implemented, and the customer's requirements (taste).
If a person is attempting to acheive the illusion of "up front bass" when their subs are in the rear, this can usually be done by crossing over at 50-60Hz (no underlap though, so the fronts have to play cleanly at <50Hz, which usually inplies 8", with very few 6.5" exceptions) with a 4th order (24dB/Oct.) active crossover.
Additionally, for those that simply want to feel more bass without disturbing the neighborhood, they might want to check out some Bass Shakers, as they won't take up your hatch space.
