hey going to be tinting my windows soon and i was curious what percentage you all tinted your scion tcs windows? let me know pics also if you got them.

 

Connecticut legal - 35% sides and quarter panels, 20% rear. I believe its the same in NY. Its not worth going any darker than legal unless you have the money to fix it after you get a ticket.

The rear can be anything though (at least in Conn). It can be 5% if you want!

30%... noticeable, light enough for cops to see through, not dark enough for them to bother you

 

Legal limit in NY is 70% front and rear side windows and any for the back windshield.


That being said, I went 20% all around.

 

I went 20% up front and 15% all three back windows. 20% is legal all around but with the largeness of the back window the tint shop said 15% would be more efficient and beneficial than 20%.

 

Whatever tint you go with, make sure to get the Driver's, Passenger's, and Rear Quarters are all the same %. Looks funny when the Quarters are darker than the Driver's and Passenger's IMHO. If you get the Hatch darker then the rest of your tC it will make the car look darker overall.

BTW-I did 20% on the Hatch and 35% on the other windows.

I went with 50% on the passenger (trying to avoid tickets!), and 20% on the back passenger and hatch. Also, as far as my untrained eye can tell, 20% is a really close match to the factory tint on the sunroof.

I went with 50/30/20 front, side, rear... as to avoid unwanted attention from the fuzz

 

Mass Law is 35% for drivers and pass windows. I went 20% all around, shhhhhhhhh

I got 15% on mine

 

I did 50% Shield/ 20% Front door/ 5% Rear. If you don't tint the Shield and Do just a 70% to block uv and heat, 20% on front & 5% on rear you should be free from trouble. I recommend 3M FX-HP film looks great

 

when you have the front windows up at night or in the rain is it real hard to see out?
i was going to get 5% all around but someone told its hard t see out at night or especially in the rain, so i just ended up getting 5% in the back and 20% up front

 

^ I find 20% to be a hassle at night at times, if I'm backing up or parallel parking, I have to roll the windows down.

Personally I wouldn't go any less than 20% because of night-time visibility. If 15% was available in my area, I may think of trying it for better privacy during the day, and since I already roll my windows down sometimes at night, 5% darker won't make much of a difference.

how is 35% at night? at night AND raining?

 

35% is cake. Even 20% on my Hatch isn't that bad. I like my tint because when guys in their really big jacked up trucks (and really small penises ) get behind you, they don't blind you with their headlights. Bastards!
